RICK HAS BEEN PLAYING GUITAR FOR OVER 30 YEARS NOW AND BEGAN WRITING
WORSHIP MUSIC IN THE EARLY 2000S. BUT NONE OF THAT HAS EVER SEEN THE LIGHT
OF DAY. WRITING WORSHIP SONGS WAS ALWAYS A LABOR OF LOVE, A VERY
PERSONAL THING FOR HIM. "WORSHIP MUSIC IS HOW I CONNECT TO GOD. ONLY A
FEW OTHER PEOPLE, CLOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILY HAVE HEARD IT," HE SAYS.
WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, THOUGH, RICK DECIDED TO BRANCH OUT A BIT.
"I ALWAYS HAD A PROBLEM WRITING ANYTHING BUT WORSHIP MUSIC. BUT ONE DAY
I JUST DECIDED TO TELL A STORY WITH A SONG AND IT JUST KEEPS FLOWING OUT
NOW!" HIS DEBUT EP, TITLED "BURN" IS A SMALL SAMPLE OF THAT.
Jonathan was only 16 when he was arrested for a crime he did not commit. Maya Moore’s family met Jonathan through a prison ministry program in 1999 and over time developed a close bond with him. Maya met Jonathan in 2007, shortly before her freshman year at the University of Connecticut, where she became one of the most heralded women’s basketball players in collegiate history. She visited him often throughout the years, as well as sending him letters and books as he fought for his freedom; ultimately, she became a strong voice for prosecutorial changes. She stunned the sports world when she announced in February 2019 that she would step away from her career in women’s basketball, in part so she could help Jonathan in what they hoped would be his final appeal. In March 2020, his conviction was overturned by a state judge in Jefferson City, MO. In this inspiring memoir, the couple explores their unwavering faith, their deep connection and how Maya stepped away from basketball to pursue justice both to prove Jonathan’s innocence and inspire activism in others.

Where would we be in life if today’s digital tools had been with us the entire time? I was in my mid-20s when this thing called the computer became a tool at the workplace. Does Generation Alpha know how powerful the world is today? Or is it just another day? My grandchildren had smartphones during their preteen years. They’ve always been quick to Google, play games, send text message and watch YouTube. I’ll never forget a quote my friend shared “You’ll never use the entire strength of a smartphone. It’s so big and powerful. It’s sad to think that after two decades it’s still a toy.” Could you go back to an age without digital capabilities? I don’t believe our mental stability could handle where we once stood.
