  • The Daily Mess Zipper Merging

An old term but new to me: Zipper Merge.  When a highway under construction brings two lanes of traffic into one.  Instead of rushing drivers into a single lane, traffic experts lay out the barriers in a way that zips 2 long lines of cars into one.  Zipper Merge.  Can it be used in our personal lives?  The way we work, talk,  think and process other people coming into our mental lanes.  I'm guilty of taking on too much at one time.  Multi tasking has been the business world way for a couple of decades.  To toss everything onto the highway at once causes confusion and mistakes are going to be made.  Learning to live a Zipper Merge way could ease the stress and lower the anxiety.  The only requirement is to turn it into a daily discipline.

  • Dr Christopher Mohr From Nutrisystem

On  average, only nine to twelve percent of people keep their New Year’s  Resolutions. When it comes to weight loss in  particular, many people get discouraged when the number on the scale  doesn’t drop as quickly as they’d like – but a plateau is often a normal  part of any weight loss journey. Dr. Chris Mohr, registered dietitian  and ambassador for Nutrisystem -- the leading  provider of health and wellness and weight loss solutions – can offer a  number of tips to overcome these hurdles. Among them:

    • Get Enough Shut-Eye --  Lack of sleep can disrupt weight loss. If you’re having trouble getting  some shut-eye, try sticking to a regular sleep schedule  and limiting your caffeine consumption and screen-time in the hours  before bed.
    • Don’t Skimp on Protein & Fiber -- Protein helps to preserve lean muscle mass while losing weight to help maintain metabolic rate. Also, protein  and fiber are strongly related to satiety, which keep you feeling full longer.
    • Keep a Diet Journal –  Track your food intake including all eating occasions (even nibbling),  portion sizes and ingredients. This way, if you notice  the scale is stuck, you can look back at your journal and see where you  may be overdoing it. Nutrisystem’s NuMi app is one way to organize your  meal plan throughout your weight loss journey.
    • Overeating –  sounds obvious, but remember that weight loss is dependent on “calories  in” being lower than “calories out.” Meal delivery programs  like Nutrisystem can help eliminate guesswork by providing the right  balance of nutrients at every meal.

  • Stream Thinking Along The Way

We over use this statement:  Along the way we met with _______.  Who are we meeting with?  Everybody seems to use this as a crutch.  To make it come across as they've done their home work because we have met with ____. Are we using it correctly or is it a crutch?  Do we say it as a way of expressing that we didn't do it alone?  Along the way we met with _______.

  • Valentine Low Releases The Book The Courtiers The Power Behind The House Of Windsor

COURTIERS: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power  Players Behind the House of Windsor (published by St. Martin’s Press) is  the gripping account of how the Royal family really operates, from  Valentine Low, the journalist who has spent years studying them. Who  really runs the show and, as Charles III begins his reign, what will  happen next? As The Spectator raves, “COURTIERS give us a remarkable  insight into the unseen operation of the monarchy."

Throughout  history, the British monarchy has relied on its courtiers - the trusted  advisers in the King or Queen's inner circle - to ensure its survival  as a family and a pillar of the country. Today, as ever, a carefully  selected team of people hidden from view steers the royal family's path  between public duty and private life. Queen Elizabeth II, after a  remarkable 70 years of service, saw the final seasons of her reign  without her husband Philip to guide her. Now, a newly ascended Charles  seeks to define what his future as King, and that of his court, will be.  The question of who is entrusted to guide the royals has never been  more vital. Yet, as the tensions within the family are exposed to global  scrutiny like never before, the task these courtiers face has never  been more challenging. With a dark cloud hanging over Prince Andrew as  well as Harry and Meghan's controversial departure from royal life,  William and Kate - equipped with a very 21st century approach to press  and public relations - now hold the responsibility of making an ancient  institution relevant for the decades to come.

  • The Daily Mess Forced Off The Map

    January 30, 2023

I’m a time freak. Someone who is very loyal to their planned out day. It’s not that I fear change.

I have a problem with other people’s decisions to remove my feet from the map. Someone who doesn’t like change is called a diehard. Experts says if you aren’t comfortable with change don’t let it trap you in a life you don’t want. Which I’m guilty of. For 26 years I feared losing my job in radio. I felt if I changed it would give decision makers a reason to set me free. I didn’t change because I felt secure. Then when we parted ways on year number 26 I remember asking myself about the fear. The new found freedom was amazing. There’s a learning process here. When confronted to make an unexpected change due to another person the first step is to listen to the problem. Create a solution. Activate it with 50/50 favor. Both sides have to be equal winners. Listen. Reach a solution. Activate it.
