M Night Shyamalan is back! Knock At The Cabin is Ryan Jay's favorite from this director. It's a mystery thriller with a touch of horror. Up next is 80 For Brady. Ryan says it's a great story of the girls but it doesn't need the football story line. Wait to stream it. And finally Spoil Alert is a real love story with a very sad ending. That's the spoil alert. The entire story is what makes this a great film.
When a series of dreams carry the same message and none of it makes sense. I'm no dream expert. It doesn't stop me from digging in.
From award-winning and New York Times bestselling author Kwame Alexandercomes an all-ages, family read destined to be a major saga that changes the way we think about pre-colonial Africa: THE DOOR OF NO RETURN tells the saga of an African family through the eyes of twelve-year-old Kofi and his friend Ama, as they come of age in pre-colonial Ghana and face the woes and wonders of the new worlds of Europe and America. Alexander’s masterful storytelling and real-to-life characters paint a portrait of a young boy coming-of-age whose similarity to readers will offer an immediate connection to the world of today and continues the legacy of family saga stories such as Roots.
Dreams are today’s answers for tomorrow’s questions. 11-year-old Kofi Offin dreams of water. Its mysterious, immersive quality. The rich, earthy scent of the current. The clearness, its urgent whisper that beckons with promises and secrets... Kofi has heard the call on the banks of Upper Kwanta, in the village where he lives. He loves these things above all else: his family, the fireside tales of his father’s father, a girl named Ama, and, of course, swimming. Some say he moves like a minnow, not just an ordinary boy so he’s hoping to finally prove himself in front of Ama and his friends in a swimming contest against his older, stronger cousin. But before this can take place, a festival comes to the villages of Upper and Lower Kwanta and Kofi’s brother is chosen to represent Upper Kwanta in the wrestling contest. Encircled by cheering spectators and sounding drums, the two wrestlers from different villages kneel, ready to fight. You are only fine, until you are not. The match is over before it has barely begun, when the unthinkable–a sudden death–occurs... The river does not care how grown you are. As his world turns upside down, Kofi soon ends up in a fight for his life. What happens next will send him on a harrowing journey across land and sea, and away from everything he loves.
If we make a choice on our own there's a 50/50 shot at reaching a greater platform...
That ill feeling of lost hope. It doesn't just happen. Like pain management we convince ourselves of something lost or gone from where it once was...
Thank you for being part of the conversation. This is Play It Forward. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward Episode 554 With Andrew Igbokidi From NBC’s The Voice
Andrew comes from a musical family. Andrew's parents moved here from Nigeria when his mom took a physician's residency in Chicago. Andrew is a first-generation American, but fully embraces the Nigerian culture by making their delicious food, having strong family ties, and by wearing Dashikis to special occasions. His great grandfather was the village chief in their home in Nigeria. Andrew is now following in his mother's footsteps by studying to become a doctor. He just completed his pre-med biology degree and got accepted into four medical schools, three of which offered him full scholarships. He doesn't think it will be an issue working 9-to-5 as a doctor and then hitting the stage right after to sing.
SomaLogic has a technology platform that houses one of the largest clinical proteomic databases in the world. The company uses this database and their machine learning and bioinformatics to transform this data into quantitative risk assessments and reliable physiological, lifestyle and disease insights across many different human diseases and conditions. They also license their technology to researchers to accelerate biomarker discovery, diagnostics, drug discovery and health management.
A tangible example of their work is a blood test they developed for cardiac disease. In short, SomaLogic scientists developed a blood test that can predict whether someone is at high risk for a heart attack, stroke, heart failure or if they are dying from one of these conditions within a four-year period. The test relies on the measurement of proteins in the blood – which has twice the accuracy of other risk scores. With this test, doctors can determine whether the patient needs additional medicines (i.e., cardioprotective drugs to lower risk), and/or whether they need to refine the strategy they are pursuing with this patient. And the beauty of this test is that it measures the individual’s proteins and thus the test is specific to that person versus a wide range of people – a truly precise medicine test/tool.
Throughout the upcoming EP, Uncured exudes a clearly defined sense of confidence and identity through its dynamic musicianship and emotionally elevated arrangements.
“Our first object when writing My Design was to ensure that all of the songs on the EP were musically accessible to a broad audience,” says vocalist Rex Cox. “We wanted all of our choruses to inspire our audiences to sing along and participate in our music.”
“We wrote and simultaneously recorded My Design in real-time at Conclave Studios,” says lead guitarist Zak Cox. “That approach gave us an opportunity to make the production elements of each song an integral part of the composition, instead of an after-thought within the mixing process.”
Uncured will be touring extensively across the globe in support of My Design, which will include performances at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Florida in May 2023, the Download festival in the UK in June, 2023, and the Inkcarceration festival in Ohio in July 2023.
Uncured is founded by brothers Rex Cox (vocalist) and Zack Cox (lead guitarist). They are joined by bassist Micah Smith and drummer Zachary King.
It’s called The Nazi Conspiracy and is about a real-life secret Nazi plot to kill FDR, Stalin, and Churchill at the height of WWII – a triple assassination that would’ve changed the course of history. Best of all, we come at it differently than anyone who’s ever written about it. And of course, we tackle head on that when it comes to Nazis and fanatics, well…it’s a problem that isn’t new for America, especially these days. Indeed, beyond the mind-blowing plot itself, we highlight things like the Nazi rally that was held in Madison Square Garden back then, with giant banners of swastikas next to George Washington. Like the Lincoln and Washington books, I wrote it with the same award-winning documentarian who helped us find the 9/11 flag.
