  • Ryan Jay Reviews The Son, Alice Darling And New Gods

Almost like a secret sauce, three new movies make it into theaters this week.  Hugh Jackman in The Son is the prequel that nobody saw coming.  He's all into this performance.  Up next is Anna Kendrick in Alice Darling.  A total no show on great drama.  And if animation is your fuel New God's is in theater.  A fallen God becomes a bounty hunter.  A must adventure in theaters.

Multiple award-winning investigative journalist and correspondent Mariana van Zeller plunges deeper into the illicit shadow economy in the much-anticipated third installment of National Geographic’s Emmy-nominated docu-series TRAFFICKED WITH MARIANA VAN ZELLER. • Journaling Your Worries

Journaling your worries.  For some, that's enough to increase anxiety.  To be so open with what's unraveling between your ears.  What if someone finds it?   This is when we begin hoarding our emotions for possible future use.  My mother spoke of being a worrier but she never shared with me what she was worried about.  Seeing my worries in word formation helps me explore peaceful methods of recovery. • Yeva Skalietska Releases The Book You Don't Know What War Is

You Don’t Know What War Is: The Diary of a Young Girl from Ukraine is 12-year-old Yeva Skalietska’s firsthand account of her harrowing escape from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Yeva’s story begins on her twelfth birthday in Kharkiv, where she has been living with her grandmother since she was a baby. Ten days later, the only life she’d ever known was irrevocably shattered. On February 24, 2022, her city was suddenly under attack as Russia launched its horrifying invasion. Yeva and her grandmother fled to a basement bunker, where she began writing this diary.

She describes the bombings they endured while sheltering underground, and their desperate journey west to escape the conflict raging around them.

“Everyone knows the word war, but very few people understand what it truly means,” writes Skalietska. “I want the world to know what we have experienced.”

After many endless train rides and a prolonged stay in an overcrowded refugee center in West Ukraine, Yeva and her beloved grandmother eventually find refuge in Dublin.  There, she bravely begins to forge a new life, hoping she’ll be able to return home one day.

You Don’t Know What War Is: The Diary of a Young Girl from Ukraine is an important, emotional, and ultimately hopeful memoir about the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.

  • The Daily Mess Life In A Box

    January 19, 2023

When ideas from your past fizzle out in a modern way and walk. Five to ten years ago it was a brilliant decision. Not so much now. I’d love to create a television show that randomly selects a home and we go inside to search the boxes under the bed, in the closet, the attic and garage. How did all of this stuff fall out of the ranks of I have to have it? Amazon doesn’t play fair with consumers. One click of the button and the box arrives in two days. How many of those ideas are physically used? I struggle with this because I suffer from I’ll get around to it. Laptop computers and notebooks have overtaken book shelves because at the time it was a must have idea. Your life is in a box. And it’s probably not worth anything to those who’ll go through those boxes after the passing.
