"I dreamed of working with food, but then I got pregnant early." Samuel Goldwyn Films has revealed an official US trailer for an indie romantic comedy from Sweden titled Food and Romance, which is the very generic English title for this movie originally known as Tuesday Club A sudden change discovering her husband is cheating forces Karin to re-evaluate her life. With the help of friends, food and passion she refuses to accept that life has an expiration date and takes the second chance she is given to explore her passions and find new love. This almost seems like Sweden's version of Eat Pray Love. Of course she'll find love again when she gets obsessed with food!! This stars Marie Richardson, Peter Stormare, Ida Engvoll, Björn Kjellman, Sussie Ericsson, Carina M. Johansson, & Maria Sid. It looks charming and spunky, with an unexpected twist of Stormare being the love interest in this one.
Antioxidant-rich foods are regularly encouraged as part of a healthy lifestyle, and research suggests that a diet high in antioxidants may even help to reduce the risk of death. While certain fruits and vegetables are often thought of as high-antioxidant foods, a new study conducted by Cornell University and published in the journal, Nutrients, produced surprising results.

Bill Konigsberg, author of six books, the latest being Destination Unknown, a YA book from Scholastic, which Kirkus Reviews calls “Historical fiction at its finest.” In fact, the review is so great, here are some excerpts that say it better than I can:
“Two drastically different gay teens meet in New York City in 1987 at the height of the AIDS pandemic…… What ensues is a tour de force: an exploration of a relationship that pulls back the curtains on queer 1980s New York City to reveal a community wrestling with life and death. With care, emotional depth, and a myriad of period music references, Konigsberg expertly balances Micah’s wonder, fear, despair, and outrage at coming out during the AIDS crisis. Strong characterizations of Micah and CJ are buoyed by excellent dialogue and believable secondary characters—…propelling this exhilarating page-turner. It’s sure to be an emotional eye-opener for those who did not live through this time and a resonant picture of resilience, community, and activism for those who did.”
The sign reads: Enriching lives. One meal at a time. One family. One associate and one community at a time. A brilliant word! A solid statement. How many coworkers have walked by the sign and found no reason to generate a deeper thought? I've been part of this building for two years and have never seen this sign before. Do those I collaborate with understand the mantra? Their position at work means more to others than how they think of themselves. Who is the author? Do the people we work for believe in the statement? Why am I the only one talking? What if it's not really there? I saw a thought.
Iconoclassic Records is headed to the "Dark Side" with the first-ever anthology from the real-life band behind Hollywood's Eddie and The Cruisers: John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band. On September 30, the label released Greatest Hits, a freshly remastered 16-track collection from the rock-and-roll revivalists whose "On the Dark Side" reached the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 and spent five weeks atop the Mainstream Rock chart and the MTV video charts.
Singer-guitarist Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band (including Gary Gramolini on lead guitar, Pat Lupo on bass, Kenny Jo Silva on drums, Bobby Cotoia on keyboards, and Michael Antunes on saxophone) had been playing up a storm in their native Rhode Island as well as up and down the Northeast Corridor - Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey - throughout the 1970s and early 1980s when producer Kenny Vance offered them an enticing proposition. Music biz veteran Vance was a founding member of Jay and the Americans and an instrumental figure in the discovery of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, a.k.a. Steely Dan. He was looking for a band to craft the music for the eponymous fictional band in the movie Eddie and The Cruisers, and Cafferty's high-energy bar band fit the bill perfectly.
