Without leadership we're wanderers caught up in assumption. We think we've got this until it breaks. Then we want an instant fix.
Openly I admit, I'm deeply affected by S.A.D. Seasonal Affective Disorder. Not because of the most recent time change but four back to back days of gray rainy skies. Making your way through intense mental storms requires positive activities. Breaking the daily habits. I step into the kitchen to create happy food. Making yourself aware of how many hours you're putting into binge watching television. Take a transition walk or go for a long ride in the car. Break the daily habits! Look at other well rounded objects rather than staring into the flat screen. Writing is a very important tool when it comes to not getting bogged down with S.A.D. It strengthens the mindset, empowering it to move forward. It's way too easy to fall into things you can't control. Writing is like reading a book. It activates the imagination.

Merging decades before the global popularity of "workout playlists," Body By Jake: Don't Quit! is just one milestone among a laundry list of pioneering accomplishments from the timeless fitness personality Jake Steinfeld. Released in 1984, Don't Quit! was Steinfeld's groundbreaking collection of all-original pump-up music, the first original soundtrack to an exercise video, a precursor to the type of curated playlists found on Peloton and the streaming services. The collection was executive produced by Steinfeld at the beginning of a storied career that now spans more than four decades. Known throughout the 1980s as the first "trainer to the stars" thanks to a celebrity client list that included Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Madonna, Priscilla Presley, Bette Midler, and more, Steinfeld made personal fitness training an occupation in the early '80s, eventually going on to create the first exercise segments on cable television (CNN), the first 24-hour all-fitness television network (FitTV), and the first on-demand fitness television service (ExerciseTV), not to mention a branded fitness empire that has sold over two billion dollars' worth of exercise equipment and counting, helping to get countless people around the world in shape.
Now, more than 35 years later, Steinfeld's ahead of the curve album Don't Quit! has been revitalized for the digital age as it makes its streaming debut via Body By Jake Music/UMe, returning to raise heart rates, work muscles and move bodies once again. Featuring hitmakers like Bobby Caldwell, Michael Sembello, and Joseph Williams (Toto), the album has been unavailable since its original LP and cassette release in 1984 on MCA Records.
So much wildlife surrounds us here at Andrew Jackson State Park. This comes less than 12 hours from standing under the giant sky at one in the morning to fall witness to comet remnants falling freely to earth. Being in places of natural connection. Locating the space to slow things down. To appreciate the length of time required to heal a body injury. That time in slow motion tends to paint prettier pictures.
“It's a book of our times -- a timely exploration of the cultural divide couched in a world where vampires and humans are on the precipice of war, and oh, there’s a global pandemic, and a pretty, blond college girl turns into God after being sired by a vampire,” says Diane Hunter of her new novel, Oh Great, Another Vampire Book.
