Bosses, coworkers, our parents and even ourselves, we've used the phrase over and over again: Learn the ropes. But do we know how it became more than just a walk of life?

We hear it every day. People use it as their excuse to not check in at work or why a project wasn't completed. I'm under the weather. Really? Where did this come from and why is it still trusted even today?

Something so simple and so modern sounding really isn't. Steal my thunder gas a strange but true history and in its own way is a full view of who we are and have experienced in life.

If you ignore the dragon, it will eat you. You'd think this is an ancient lesson. Not so true. It doesn't end there. The dragon plays a huge role in many daily decisions. How are you playing your dragon and what's the history behind it?

Those things people say. They sound so cool and very up to date when in reality most of what we say is old old old. It's rehashing what our grandparents once said. Such as...bat shit crazy!

Those things we say. So much of it arrived two to three hundred years ago. Yet it seems so new today. One such phrase is don't bite off more than what you can chew. Where does it come from?

Is it used today as much as mom and dad buried us with it? Umm yeah. When pigs fly. What? When a phrase becomes figures at Hallmark you know it's gonna be around a very long time. What does it mean?

We say this stuff pretty much every day without realizing it's got history. This one hails from the pages of my father who endlessly told me how much I don't know shit. Really? One day Dad I'm gonna grow up to host a podcast and we're gonna talk about shit I do know. Ha!
