Very grateful to bring you this podcast and today's conversation is maintaining the academic tone while trying to stay away from conversational tone. I had the privilege of being able to coach another teacher from Chile and I realized that in his essay, there was the tone of passage that would look like how he spoke, along with structural errors.
I remember hearing this from a teacher years ago. He said, "your writing sounds like how you speak." I took it offensive, but it does make sense. To be able to switch off the conversational tone in your writing and switch to academic is very important in TOEFL. So, let's dive in!
