Art As Culture podcast identifies creative pioneers who are adding to the dynamic culture of the arts, across all forms. The currency of creativity has increased significantly, a complete shift from prior perceptions and labels such as ‘struggling artist’ and deeming it only as a hobby. Storytelling lies at the heart of creativity and each guest, on the show, has a distinct signature and narrative to their craft. It is through conversation that we learn not only about their skill but how they managed to hone their crafts into careers.
A frank and illuminating conversational platform that explores the dynamics of being a 'creative' and artist. Art as Culture explores and creates dialogue around the value art adds to our dynamic social landscape,if any, as well as continuously breaking the notion of art as just a hobby. More and more it becomes apparent that creativity as a revenue stream and an avenue to access economic stability IS attainable for those who practice the craft. About the Host:
Amo Helang, or Amo, as she is affectionately known extends her energies wider than her profession through a creative exploration of writing, acting, directing and the advancements of the arts. Armed with ceaseless determination, strength and an infectious aura, Creative Entrepreneur Amo Helang, enjoys writing short observations and opinion pieces on the local creative culture as well as occasionally getting lost in sunsets
Her natural inkling for conversation and keen curiosity inspired her attraction to create dialogue around an industry that she is herself exploring and podcasting came as the perfect platform to explore this topic. Not a novice to the podcasting game, she has hosted two podcasts prior to AAC; Her Magic and Thoughts Said Then Forgotten.
While producing a podcast and an online show that profiles and foregrounds creative practitioners, she is currently pursuing the launch of her own NGO with a focus on creative education as a tool to facilitate learning.
