In this episode we hang with Emily Moores. We hang out at the Northside Tavern. Emily is an installation and mixed media artist. She was selected as one of the Women to Watch in 2020 by the Ohio Arts Council. She has shown her work nationally, including the Akron Art Museum (OH), the Contemporary Arts Center (OH), the Ruffin Gallery (VA), the Loudon House (KY), and the Edward A. Whitney Gallery at Sheridan College (WY). Emily Moores was a recipient of the Ohio Cultural Arts Individual Artist Award, the Summerfair Individual Artist Grant and the ArtPrize Seed Grant.

On this episode we hang with Sarah Rodriguez in her home studio. Sarah has recently been working with collages, involving and collaborating with the community to create a cohesive piece. As I walk into the studio I see a Matisse like floor, full of bits and pieces of colorful paper that were used in her collages. The cats step over them and walk over to the windows. Sarah is the current ArtsWave artist for the Black and Brown scholarship. We talk about her process, her days of working at the Contemporary Art Center and her time at art school. She was lots of fun to talk to.

On this episode I hang with Sso-Rha Kang at Mom 'n 'em Coffee in Madisonville. Sso-Rha is the Curator at the Carnegie in Covington, KY. Have you ever met someone and thought...wow she's so smart and cool, I would like to know them better...well that's Sso-Rha for me. She has curated exhibitions for Wave Pool, The Carnegie, Pearlman Gallery, Third Space Gallery and The Contemporary Arts Center. She is currently one of two Consulting Curators for the state of Ohio in the exhibition New Worlds: Women to Watch (2024) for the National Museum for Women in the Arts in Washington, DC. A related touring exhibition of Ohio-based artists opens at the Riffe Gallery in Columbus on July 29th. We talk about curating an exhibit and all the things that it entails...from coming up with a theme/idea, finding artists, visiting studios, organizing logistics, installing shows and creating an event. On this episode we hang with Chris Breeden at Arnold's Bar & Grill. Chris is not only the owner/proprietor of the oldest bar in Cincinnati, Arnold's...but also one of the folks that make Cincinnati and it's art community great! He has created many art happenings like pairing artists and musicians to create gig posters, curating art shows, releasing vinyl records, and also creating drone shot videos of the art murals in Cincinnati. You know that Cincinnati is currently the best street art city, according to USA Today! We had such a wonderful conversation about all the things I mentioned, and also his love for street art and the artists that create them. He was also the co-founder and director of Country Club, a commercial gallery based in Cincinnati and Los Angeles. We talk about his roles as an Executive Director and former Exhibiton Director at the Carnegie while we sip our delicious drinks from my favorite bar in Northside, Second Place!
