Maurice is an artist that has been described as the chief catalyst of comic abstraction and has been the pioneering force behind this wonky, off kilter style of painting and sculpture for the last 20 years or so.

This episode is a conversation with artist Mike Ballard. Mike's work reacts to and in some cases is made from the city he lives in. He's fascinated by ownership and how private and public non-spaces impact our lives so heavily. He often removes and replaces aged hordings and construction netting from building sites to form the basis of his pieces.

We chatted to Mike about his life, work and his path into contemporary art in his studio in East London

Episode 1 is a conversation with artist John Costi, who is part of this year's Young London 2018 exhibition, at V22.

As well as making art John is involved in social projects in the community that he grew up in.

We talk about art and graffiti and how they co exist in a slightly awkward way, and about how art can be used as a means of rehabilitation. We also talk about John's slightly unorthodox path into contemporary art, his time behind bars and how he feels he fits in to the current creative landscape.

Sadly for this episode Rowan couldn't make it, so we were joined by Lima based journalist Alex Houghton who has been working on a documentary in Burkina Faso about rehabilitation in prisons there.
