Artists inherently have an anxiety when talking about their work. I should say genuine artists do. Artists who don't have that fear have elevated the language around their work to a level that supersedes the visual experience. Artist who make work to communicate visually because that is what they know are working from a place where language isn't necessary. So why does the artist have to inject this? 

I often reject the notion in creativity that the idea must come first in the creative act. Making is an idea generator and if you don't get right to it, you are wasting time. 

Why do we have a hard time looking at painting or better yet, talking about it? In this episode I try to get to the bottom of that and start a conversation around where we went wrong.
