"Are you willing to do what it takes to get to the next level?" - Reed Silberman

Sitting down to chat with Ink Monstr founder and CEO Reed Silberman is like taking a master class in what it means to give blood, sweat and tears to build a successful business beyond one's dreams. After a few years chasing the almighty dollar on Wall Street, Reed's search for a more meaningful existence brought him to Colorado to pursue snowboarding and shredding the gnar. He found himself living in a van in Aspen, Colorado, teaching snowboarding and launching a fledging sticker company. Fast forward thirteen years and the company has grown into Denver-based Ink Monstr, a full service print shop creating large vinyl wraps, apparel and yes, lots of stickers.

Reed shares his thoughts on pursuing excellence, what it takes to become a successful leader; in art or in business and how being named Colorado's Small Business Person of the Year has opened doors and created opportunities he never thought possible.

When Lori "Shelvis" Muha takes the stage audiences immediately know they are in for a treat. As one of a very few female Elvis' Lori always puts on a memorable show that will leave viewers much to talk about. In this exclusive CRAVE podcast she discusses the evolution of Shelvis and how her band, The Roustabouts is not a tribute band, but rather an act that walks, at least for a short time, in the shoes of the many great performers whom she embodies while onstage.

Recorded at the Art Institute of Colorado, Shelvis talks about what it means to be a working musical artist in today's world. She provides words of inspiration to those of us who love to sing and perform, whether in the shower or even on stage. She also spins a tale of caution on how to prevent getting caught up in the machine that is the musical industry.

"Find something within yourself that you want to express." - Lisa Calzavara

Transformative is a word that comes to mind when thinking about the work and growth of visual artist Lisa Calzavara. Her work has evolved drastically over the years as she has continued to grow and transform both her technique and style. Going from a full-time mother to a full-time artist has been a long journey of study and practice, and was only possible with the support of her family along the journey. Lisa is a student of the arts, and a lover of the outdoors. She has found a way to combine both of these passions in creating an ever-growing body of landscapes, abstracts and other work, both in 2D and in breathtaking 3D sculptures.

Episode 13 is a virtual master class in what it takes to work professionally as an artist, told from someone who walked those steps not too long ago, and raised a family along the way!

Intense. That one word perfectly describes Episode 12.

Recently, I had the great opportunity to record several podcasts at the Art Institute of Colorado's audio engineering studio. In this, the first of these episodes, I sat down with the portfolio class of the school's Audio Engineering program. We spoke on what it means to be a student in a non-traditional arts program, the struggles that everyone goes through to see a dream through, and we enjoyed words of wisdom from class instructor Dan Buckley and Jay Peteranetz, the Program Chair for the school's Media Arts & Animation Program. I am very humbled and honored by the the students Jason, Amanda, Peter, Roger, Chris and Isaiah for their willingness to open up and chat about the challenges and rewards facing art students today.

"Find your right path and passion and go for it." - Kara Duepre

Many people living in today's world often feel stuck. Stuck in a job they didn't plan on, or worse yet, don't really want to be in. People often get caught up in the trappings of what it means to "have a good life." Get a good education. Get a good job. Find a good partner. The list goes on and on. All too often we slide down the slope of working to pay for the life we think we should have instead of the living a life of passion. We bury those passions deep inside until the fire that they once fueled is nothing but a barely glowing coal. This podcast series is about re-igniting that passion, and none has done it better than our Episode 11 guest Kara Duepre. She started climbing the corporate ladder only to find that was not where she wanted to be. So she took the leap that many are afraid to take. She listened to her heart and followed her passion. Kara sits down to talk about her passion for artistically immersive events and the company she is building to support them. She is following her passion and much, much happier for it.
