Is the Bible simply a collection of stories, laws, poems, and letters—or is it something much bigger?
In this episode of Arthur's Bible Study/Reflection, we explore one of the most remarkable features of Scripture: although the Bible contains 66 books written by more than 40 authors over approximately 1,500 years, it tells one unified story.
Beginning with the Tree of Life in Genesis 2, moving through the imagery of trees and living water in Psalm 1, Jeremiah 17, and John 7, and ending with the River of Life and Tree of Life in Revelation 22, we'll discover how the entire Bible points to Jesus Christ.
Along the way, we'll consider a simple illustration: if you fell out of a boat in the middle of the ocean, you wouldn't need an instruction manual—you would need a savior. The Bible tells the story of people who continually "fall out of the boat," and the good news is that God has provided the Savior we need.
We'll also explore the Stephen Ministry illustration known as "The Pit," a powerful picture of how Christians can remain rooted in Christ while helping others through life's struggles.
Whether you've read the Bible for decades or are just beginning to explore it, this episode will help you see Scripture as one grand rescue story—and discover why every road in the Bible ultimately leads to Jesus.
