In this episode of the Artist Collective Radio Show, Chris Flemmons, frontman of Sub Pop Records’ The Baptist Generals, reflects on how an unexpected connection to the band Pantera ignited his songwriting career, which musician puts him in a spiritual place, and his on-going journey from alcoholism to recovery. He even reveals a little bit of my personal history as we discuss artists as vessel of emotion, the evolution of the music industry, and what’s next for this much-loved musician out of Denton, Texas.

More about Chris Flemmons:
Chris is the founder of The Baptist Generals, an experimental/folk band known for its deeply personal narrative songs that make listeners “reach deep into themselves and feel things”. In 2005, Chris planted the seeds for what would become 35 Denton, North Texas’ answer to SXSW, which grew to include estimated audiences of 20,000 people, before stepping down in 2010. Since then, he has worked in production on television and film and continues to etch out songs for The Baptist Generals.

Matthew Kraig Kelly (The Autumns, The Sound of Animals Fighting, Pyramids, Minus Music) is a critically acclaimed musician and also holds three degrees from UCLA.
