MJ has helped me find the courage to start this podcast, Artistic Spirit. She holds space on her podcast, Mirrored Wellness, where she discusses self-development and spirituality. She has learned through creativity coaching that she needs to feel safe in order to create, like many of us.

MJ’s Tips on How to Feel Safe

    • Create Sacred Space
    • Remind yourself that it is ok to feel your feelings
    • Talk to someone to regurgitate and process
    • Utilize objects as symbols to remind you that you are safe
    • Practice grounding

MJ recognizes the need to validation in creating and how creative sprints have helped her get back to writing poetry. “Demons Cry Too” is a culmination of years of poetry that she revisited to share this work with the world.

Reminders About Befriending Your Shadow Side

    • Accept having ups and downs in your mood without judgment
    • Recognize that your shadow doesn’t always feel good
    • Slow down and pause when you need it

  • Give Yourself The Love You Deserve

I’m Katie Moran and this is the Artistic Spirit Podcast- your place for art, mental health, and spirituality. I’m here with Ryan Spence- a life and weight loss coach. He’s lost 130 pounds and has kept it off for 13 years. Now he’s helping others. He’s coached me and has changed my life. He’s helped me become more confident, with an audible difference in my voice.

Ryan talks about how he lost 130 pounds with small habits and sustainable change to keep it off for 13 years. Now he is on a mission to coach others through the process of self-love and sustainable change. Ryan has taught me how to accept myself as I am and how to become more confident.

    Tips from Ryan

    • Start with small habits- they make a big difference
    • Don’t wait until you hit your goal to be happy
    • Do the things you say you will do and confidence will follow
    • Work with a coach or therapist to build confidence
    • Look for moments where you feel aligned

Ryan suggests everyone finds out their love language and gives themselves self-love in their love language. We recognize and prefer love in certain ways. We can use this to our benefit to show ourselves the love we deserve.

Emotional eating is when we self-soothe through eating. We eat to feel better, but it may not be a form of self-care or self-love. Ryan recommends working through emotions with a coach and finding the root causes of the emotions that condition bad habits. For emotional eating, he also suggests writing down what you eat and the emotions you feel when you eat to bring awareness to your habits.

    Reminders from Ryan

    • Someone else’s truth doesn’t have to become your truth
    • We are in charge of how we feel
    • You deserve your own love
    • Change is not about all or nothing
    • You can choose to make change sustainable
    • It’s okay if the change takes awhile
    • You can change one habit at a time

  • Stop Living With Emotional Trauma! How To Start Healing

I’m Katie Moran- an author, poet, advocate, creativity coach, and social entrepreneur. I am a sexual assault survivor and have PTSD from the experience. This is the Artistic Spirit Podcast, your place for art, mental health, and spirituality. Arame Ndoye is a podcaster, a life coach trained in Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), an author, holistic healer, and speaker. She has found healing from a history of sexual trauma and now coaches other survivors to their own path of healing. Arame has reminders for anyone who has experienced feelings of worthlessness due to past trauma.

    Arame’s reminders for you:

    • Know feelings of worthlessness are not true
    • Change your own inner dialogue- tell yourself you are worthy
    • Intentionally escape negative feelings that are overwhelming
    • Boundaries come with practice: have self-compassion
    • Know what your boundaries are and then communicate them
    • Boundaries come from the place of deciding what’s right for you
    • You don’t need anybody’s permission to take your power back

Arame makes it very clear that if you are healing from feeling unworthy from experiencing trauma, that your inner dialogue matters and feelings are worthlessness are not true. You are inherently worthy of healthy experiences and self-protection through boundaries. Arame recommends for anyone feeling emotional pain to ask yourself: “where do I feel this in my body,” to have more compassion with yourself; this practice was life-changing for me. This allows for you to reframe your negative self-talk. You have the power within yourself to reignite feelings of safety, because you are worthy of feeling safe inside your own body.

Arame’s tips for putting yourself out there online:

    • Post even with the fear of putting yourself out there
    • Change your narrative about putting yourself out there- you will get what you think
    • Tell yourself you are excited instead of nervous
    • Just start, even if it’s small
    • Don’t wait for everything to be perfect
    • Make it an intention to post consistently with a frequency that is right for you

  • Have a Deep WHY to Resonate with Your Audience

Hello, I’m Katie Moran an author, poet, advocate, creativity coach and social entrepreneur. This is the Artistic Spirit Podcast, your place for art, mental health and spirituality. Welcome to the second episode, I’m here with someone who has changed my life: Raven McChesney! Raven McChesney is an artist, spiritual mentor, coach, and aerialist. In this episode she will explain: spiritual goal setting, quantum leaping, and inspired action as well as how to connect with the right audience online.

For creators, we often ask ourselves: “how do we find and connect with our audience?” Raven suggests that it is not our content, but the WHY behind what we bring to our content. She says your WHY becomes your fuel and motivation. Having a deep why will stop you from comparing your account to other accounts. Raven explains how the market is not too saturated, although it may appear that way when the algorithm feeds us accounts that are similar to ours.

“There's enough room for everybody to share their gifts and their dreams and to make an impact.” -Raven McChesney

Raven’s tips for connecting with your audience:

    • Learn the skills needed to understand your audience
    • Put out content that is beneficial to your audience
    • Create on your account so the platform knows who you are trying to reach

    Raven’s pointers on goal-setting:

    • Make a desires list
    • Ask yourself, “WHY do I want this?”
    • Break down what you want into easier steps

“Whatever it is that you're working on cultivating, you have to keep reminding the brain and keep activating that reticular activating system to whatever it is that you want to see more of. And that's the beginning of that internal quantum leap. Because that internal quantum leap is what changes everything around you.” -Raven McChesney

    Raven’s guidelines for inspired action:

    • Listen to your intuition
    • Feed the desire underneath the flames
    • Know your thoughts and how you feel about yourself
    • Trust that the universe is going to meet you halfway
