Mal Vincent was recently awarded the Vianne B. Webb Lifetime Achievement Award for his 50-plus years of arts support in Hampton Roads, by the Cultural Alliance of Greater Hampton Roads. For decades, Mal has watched countless celebrities receive awards, but this time around—surprise! It was his turn and it wasn’t like he expected!

This week, Mal Vincent tells us about four new films that have stories based on events from small towns in Virginia and they’re not about Virginia history’s brightest moments.

Mal Vincent recalls the time he interviewed, a then 10 year old, Macaulay Culkin about his film “Home Alone” that would become a holiday classic. Word was that the child actor wasn’t friendly in interviews, but Mal tells us how he found a way to the boy’s heart. The film features John Williams’ award-winning score and it will be performed live-to-picture by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra with the Governor's School for the Arts Orchestra in partnership with Seven Venues and The Virginia Arts Festival, on November 26, 2016 at Chrysler Hall.

This week, Mal Vincent recalls the time he had lunch with "Annie" composer, Charles Strouse, and tells us why the music maker wasn't too sure the Broadway smash was going to be a hit. "Annie" runs at Norfolk's Chrysler Hall, November 18th and 19th.
