a c r o s s the country
like a lazy cat
licking it's paws

and makes them

while gently swatting at them
with tree branches climbed
and sprinklers unleashed

chrystal clear lake or
/cat/tails casting long shadows
over the local fishing hole
summer is a kitten
exuberant and playfully
tumbling in a field
of dandelion puffs

from mid air as the
Yankees continue to bore us
with thier brilliance
chasing the string of a kite
that got away
on a sudden gust of wind
chasing tail like the young boys
cruising the Florida avenues

the whispering breezes
it's a back rub

I am alone but not lonesome
I have my music and my dreams
to keep me company
in the world is full of
less lonely opportunities
ten million choices to get with
a true love that is not a myth
I must pursue the perfect pick
if you’re alone but not lonesome
perhaps you’re only stuck between
relationships that grew routine
just practice sessions unforeseen.
You have to kiss a lot of frogs
To separate love’s that are odd
and even though it makes you wince
you just might find your perfect prince
who will leave your soul convinced.
And though I’m not saying it’s me
I’m still a possibility
It’s up to me to make you see
that you and I were meant to be
Love is a very simple choice
it can’t be claimed without your voice
speaking the three words love employs
which allow two souls to rejoice
and though your nervous cause you know
sometimes it’s spoken by all those
whose true intent is just for sex
love is a tool they use to wreck
the ones they use and who comes next
I offer something less complex
it’s up to you that brave first step
a soft approach that does not press
and if it’s "No" I’ll let it rest
this chance alone has made me blessed

We take time to slumber
though our days are numbered
we’re all left encumbered
whether older or younger
losing over 1/4th of our lives
23 years and 3 months
if you live to be 70......
8 to 12 hours plundered
by our nightly hunger
to just slip away
into dreams that make
no sense at all....
Yet we answer nights call
Our biological clock
demands that daily we stop
and crawl into bed
to rest our weary heads
Our brains have been wired
to know rest is required
and if you’ve ever gone sleepless
for more than three days
you can tell horror stories
of how it made you pay
But often I ponder
what if science could conquer
how our nights are all squandered
in somnambulant states
shutting down the synapses
in our brains that relax us
without harming our bodies.
By increasing the output
of vast energy flows
always feeling refreshed
with no beds or pillows
and no need for time wasted
what a gift they’d bestow.
Imagine a four day plus
sixteen hour weekend
to do whatever you want
with your family and friends
242 extra weekend days
to spend as you wish
in wonderful ways
Imagine a world
that is always awake
so much more could be done
that our sleeping forsakes
Far more Music and Art
flowing in endless streams
an industrious society
all living their dreams.
Those who hunger could be fed
by the increased production
there’d be plenty for all
with sleep’s deconstruction
with so many new jobs
by our hours extending
poverty would just vanish
and all our woes would be ending
Lots of time to find cures
for diseases that claim
far too many of us
in more hours regained
There would be no unrest
because no rest would be needed
things they never got done
could at last be completed
or they’d all be unseated.
Yeah, they'd all be unseated
But unfortunately
all this is not yet discovered
and I find myself longing
for my pillows and covers
cause my brain has grown tired
and my body is pleading
for eight hours of nothing
that I’m suddenly needing
So I’m ending this song
full of fantasy and rhyme
cause I’ve suddenly realized
It way past my bedtime..
eight more hours of my life
just snoozed all away

There ain't nothing dryer
then un-kissed lips,
Pink, petulant apertures,
not pacified by passion,
all that is moist goes right
out of a body and soul
loneliness is a saguaro,
arms endlessly beseeching
empty heavens in a
godless wasteland.
I've seen such ravaged
beauty as it's skulking
around bus stations,
or on dark streets cruising
one eye blackened
and the other one inviting
the drunken fist of one
more sad, loveless encounter.
They haunt the smoky
bingo halls during middle age,
in flowing Mu-mus, sweat pants
and thick pancaked rouge
their cotton panties left
Sahara's to blisses dew,
while bloated hubbies doze,
they chase cash cows elusive,
pounding wet spots faithfully
on plain white sheets,
reminiscent of lovemaking
days long vanished.
They also sit like snow queens
inside homes for aging
in frozen drifts of time,
white hairdos spun,
over pale blue eyes
that gaze with cloudy wonder,
back to days of splendor
wrapped in lover's arms,
but the droughts of intimacy
turned them each into raisins,
who squat shriveled now,
strapped into single chairs...
till death grants to them
a very welcomed kiss.
Oh, I hope it's like this
on the other side
where heaven holds
so much more love
..........far above
after the ravages of time
have left so many souls
deserted with no dessert.

I think when we move on
from this world
we will be enveloped
in a love like we have never known
and we will have everything
we were denied
at least I hope that's true

in the buzz of a brain fry...

they are legal now

of all those times

and my long term projection
for her love and affection
has been left in
the cutting room
I’ve been snubbed
with rejection
our love’s lost all direction
On a screen filled with blues
our storyboards empty….
as she fades from my view
“She had me at “Hello!”
but she bid me a•dieu
I’ve been cut from her life
left lip syncing my cues
our love lost with no clues
It’s “Gone With The Wind
as the empty reels spin
leaving me with no credit
for all we once had been.
There’ll be no cattle calls
and no chance to regain…
any hope for the spotlights
of her sharing my name
I once was her best boy
until I lost my grip
I’ve been bumped from her life
and erased from her script.
So it’s back to rehearsing

shaking off being moody

"Madness....It's everywhere
But those who are mad don't care
they have nothing to share............."
Men and women
have stood
on the brink of
cruel madness
teetering next to its
vast, evil chasm
where many for
centuries have fallen
to the demonic voices
that called them
and as they tumbled
into its dark depths
no one near them
even knew that they’d left
until in the wee
hours they crept
planning horrors
no one would expect
filled with rage that
just went on unchecked
acting normal so that
none would suspect
That soon most precious
humans would perish
many folks would lose
those that they cherished
in ways that were brutal and garish
Murderers picking
their choice of weapons
which are always
so damned easy to get them
Guns and Knives, toxic poisons
one could buy in a store for
all those who annoyed them
with duct tape to secure them
before they’d destroy them
all made normal in their minds so bent
for employing and enjoying
all the final results,
from their vicious assaults
and the demons inside them
would let none of them balk.
ever since Cain and Able
when Cain slew his brother
Madness plagued all mankind
one after another
with no way to determine
who had rage slowly burning
till they’d finally explode
even children found madness
exchanging playtimes for sadness
when bullies left them brooding
so they brought guns for shooting
adding death to their schooling
madness doesn’t discriminate
between the rich and those poor
Money drives folks to evil
that they used to abhor
Jealousy also sets off
an angst that is deadly
if your cheating on someone
you’d better be ready
Perhaps someday they will invent
Smart chips for everyone
that will technically prevent
those whose brains are bent
with no intentions to relent
a chip that will put an end
to so many lives left spent
by rages in some uknown minds
fueled with murderous intent
and as soon as these
killers starts to act
to kill, that chip will quickly track
true evil that’s become a fact
and give that brain a mighty whack
akin to a large baseball bat
and put those killers on thier backs
shutting down all that was cardiac.
with the evidence of
what they’d planned
in plain view while the victims rise
escaping death, to lead their lives
thanks to Justices new compromise.

Then the price of Madness at long last
will fade into the distant past
sadly we are not there yet
but the time will come
when they won’t let
the suffering and the endless pain
be caused by madness in our brain.

It bleeds the hell
out of depression
long after you've crashed
It’s finding out
you just have hives
and not a herpes rash
it’s your split second stop
before a deadly crash
it’s that most beautiful girl
telling you unabashed
that it’s time for you both
to finally hit the sack!!
It’s losing your wallet
and then someone brings it back
with your credit cards and money
and your condom intact
It’s your first piece of candy
Back when you were a tot,
it’s that promotion you’ve
waited for and finally got
.
It’s a dip of sweet lobster
into butter that’s hot
and it’s all you can eat
and you can eat a whole lot.
Happiness was created
as a sweet buffer for
all the pain that life brings
It’s what we all suffer for.
That runners high
after a marathon
A bright , sunny sky
after the winter has gone
Those fond memories
that help to keep you strong
after a loved on has died
and life demands you move on.
So be happy as much
as you can every day
and cherish each second
when it comes your way
even if there’s a virus
and you’re forced to stay
in your house for a while
hold your sorrows at bay
show your loved ones
