The Gift Of Time.
This is our story,
her name was Lori,
and it was love at first
sight for her… for me,
I was working real hard
at a produce stand
When my boss sent me
off to do another errand,
at a greenhouse he owned
two blocks away,
on a bright and sunny
September day…..
The radio was blaring
the hit song, " Hot blooded.”
When I first laid eyes on her
and she left my soul flooded
With a feeling that I’d never
felt so strongly before
that same feeling in her eyes …
when she walked out that door.
Chorus-
Sweet eyes of baby blue,
a golden mane of blonde hair,
My whole world disappeared
with only her standing there,
Then she smiled at me
in such a way that I knew,
That she would be mine
before the week was through…
The next few days saw us
working together a lot,
And what once was a job
became my favorite spot,
Standing close to her potting
flowers that weren’t as sweet ,
as the looks that she gave me,
till our work was complete.
Then she sent me a
note that made
my wishes come true,
She wrote “I don’t know much
about love but I know I love you,”
Then we spent nights together
after our workday was through,
Sharing our burst of love at first sight,
that came out of the blue.
Chorus-
Lost in her baby blue eyes
and her mane of blonde hair,
That always tickled my face when
she had kisses to share,
Innocence became lust
that we both welcomed with glee,
We both could not get enough,
so she moved in with me
…
But unlike fairy tales
our end brought,
Happily Never After,
Her love it slipped slowly away
stealing the passion and laughter,
She found a second
first love and that discovery,
came with tears in her eyes
when she said goodbye to me…..
So I just sent her a necklace
with a bright, colored box,
That held a beautiful
pendant that was also a clock,
with a card that simply read,
“I am giving you time…..
To remind you if he leaves you
to come back and be mine…."
"I will always have time for you,
cause my love is true,
and if there comes a time you need me
I’ll be waiting for you."
But the years have faded past us
and I’m sure that tiny clock,
Lies in a dusty drawer somewhere,
where all our time for love has stopped,
the memories of what we
both shared are timeless, so I write
Of a love that I still dream of
on my coldest of lonely nights
that I still dream of,
on my coldest of lonely nights……
Her name was Lori
And this was our story......
