A PLACE TO GATHER.
From Tricia Streitz on the website: “When I think about this building, I hope that it brings joy. Carries brightness into a person’s day and projects a feeling of playfulness and fun {while still meaning business, of course}. I want people to be able to leave themselves and the world at the door and enter…to play.”

The Swede, Nicholas Gustafson, a victim during the Jesse James bank raid of 1876, was an example of the many immigrants coming to Northfield during those years. John North himself was an immigrant from the eastern US. Our concert celebrates the musical heritage of the Swedes, Norwegians, Bohemians, Germans, and more recently, Latinos, who make up our wonderful community.

Built from 35 years of archival footage, performances, journals, and interviews, The Furious Light follows filmmaker and musician David Ullman back to his childhood home in rural Ohio, where he interviews his father, uncle, and brother about the dreams, disappointments, and shared history that shaped them. He has also authored several books for various organizations. After serving 20 years as an archivist at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, he embarked on a successful writing career specializing in true-crime narratives.
His inaugural commercial publication, Murder at Minnesota Point (North Star Editions, 2022), has garnered significant acclaim.
