The highly contagious delta variant is spreading across the country, leading to a surge in COVID-19 cases. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued guidance in July that everyone in high transmission areas — regardless of vaccination status — should wear masks indoors. Mask mandates have been reinstated in a variety of places in Minnesota, and some businesses like music venue First Avenue are requiring proof of vaccination.
The latest surge in cases may mean that many people are once again making decisions about social gatherings, where to wear masks and whether to travel.
Guest host Nina Moini spoke with public health officials about how to make these decisions using the latest guidance and explored how it’s affecting our mental health with a psychologist.
Guests:
Dr. Nipunie Rajapakse is a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Mayo Clinic Children’s Center
Dr. Cecília Tomori is the director of global public health and community health at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing
Kathleen Vohs is a marketing professor at Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota
