This Sunday at our 11:00am Tyler service we will witness our Jr. confirmation students confess their faith and promise to remain in the Christian communion even if they must suffer death for the faith. It is a big vow for a 13-14 year old to make or for that matter anyone of any age and yet, that is what confirmation Sunday sets before us.

Russian Olives have a scent that once you smell it, you don’t forget it. Certain smells evoke reactions. Like the smell of baking bread. That smell lifts the spirit.

Today I would like to go into the deep end of the theological pool and talk about our capacity to do good. Did you know that Lutheran theology has a very different answer to the question about our capacity to do good than many others.
