Ashlee C. walked into her first 12-step room for food addiction recovery on February 9, 2016, not knowing that God would use this program to teach her the difference between surrendering in defeat and abandoning herself fully to Him. In her first year of abstinence, she lost 125 lbs and reached an ideal size — but after a relapse, her stretches of abstinence grew shorter and her relapses grew longer. On July 22, 2024, she finally abandoned sugar and flour as forms of ease and comfort, marking a major turning point. On May 1, 2025, she turned more of her will over to the care of God, and on May 31, 2025, she set aside her thinking about God, herself, and others and went through the steps again with the purpose of carrying the message to another suffering addict. That deeper abandonment led her to acknowledge God in all her ways — not only in compulsive eating, but also in sex, love, fantasy, overspending, under-earning, and every area where spiritual principles now guide her daily life.
Reco12 is an open-to-all addictions and afflictions organization, dedicated to exploring the common threads of the differing manifestations of alcoholism; sharing tools, and offering hope from those walking a similar path. We gather from diverse backgrounds, faiths, and locations to learn and support one another. Our speakers come from various fellowships and experiences, demonstrating the universal principles of recovery. Reco12 is not allied or affiliated with any specific 12 Step fellowship.
