Today's speaker is Tumi D from South Africa.  I came into Alcoholics Anonymous on the 21 December 2013 through rehab. Over the years I've had sponsors, and I've had the privilege of sponsoring others. My journey hasn't been a straight line, but through setbacks and fresh starts, I've found a genuine relationship with my higher power. I'll talk about trusting God, practicing prayer and meditation, working the steps, staying connected to my higher power, sponsor, and trying to do the next right thing. One day, and sometimes one moment, at a time. My hope is that the share brings encouragement to anyone, new or long-timer, that spiritual growth is available to all of us, one day at a time.

Above all, Max rejected fantasizing and accepted reality. The more I smoked Crack, the more I fantasized everything. I imagined getting even for hurts and rejections. In my mind’s eye I played and replayed scenes in which I was plucked magically from the crack house where I stood licking a pipe and was instantly exalted to some posi- tion of power and prestige. I lived in a dream world. The 12 steps and fellowship led me gently from this fantasizing to embrace reality with open arms. And I found it beautiful! For, at last, I was at peace with myself. And with others. And with God.

Addiction hopping.
 My story involves recovery from traumatic circumstances, with addictions to substances as well as codependency along the way. 
David came into recovery through alcohol and drugs but over time realized he was always replacing one thing with another. Recovery was no different. When the substances went away, the fear, shame, and need for validation didn't. They just showed up in different forms. In this meeting David shares his experience with addiction hopping, codependency, trauma, and the process of learning what was underneath all of it.

My name is Amanda a joyous, free, and recovered alcoholic/addict.
The first time I drank at 13 it was a problem. It led me down a dark path of intravenous drug use, violence and sex work. I was plagued by self loathing, guilt and shame which led to not only me praying i would die but also my beautiful children praying that i would die too. They wanted me to be at peace.
Today is very different. I wake up full of gratitude, love and a zest for life. I finally got this miraculous programme two weeks before my 50th birthday. If i can recover anyone can.  Today Amanda speaks to us on the topic of How the Three Legacies: Recovery, Unity and Service Brought Me from Death to Life.
