  • The Balance Between Two Cultures with Larissa Lam

You might think that Asian children who are born in America would have a better time adapting to the American culture, but this is not the case. Asian descendants still have some challenges growing up in America. Award-winning singer, songwriter, film maker, and TV and radio host Larissa Lam says initially she had a hard time embracing the Chinese side of her identity. It was only when she was older that she realized that God made her who she was for a reason and that all of us are different. All the different colors of the spectrum of races and beauty are equally important. She says there are positive and negative things about both cultures, and finding the balance between the two is really important. Larissa tells the story of how she started in the entertainment industry and the challenges that she had faced while building that career.

  • Discovering Your Beauty From Within With Dr. Rina Shinn

It’s time to reveal your beauty from within. Dr. Rina Shinn of Adonis Cosmetic Surgery shares valuable tips on rejuvenating yourself using holistic methods – all gained from years of experience in general surgery, trauma surgery, vascular surgery, and now cosmetic surgery. But how exactly did Dr. Shinn manage to reach the top from early on, in an America so different in terms of racial acceptance? Back then in a small town just north of Fort Lauderdale, there were no Koreans at all. Asians definitely stood out in school and there was definitely prejudice. But Rina was just too busy to be bothered by the racial slurs that she heard, and the teachers and the administrative people respected her for her good grades. Imagine having to work full time to support a family AND do all their schoolwork and extracurricular activities at the same time!

Dr. Shinn’s story is a story of survival and perseverance, and it is the story of every Asian immigrant in pursuit of the American Dream. It is a beautiful story that proves hard work and discipline will make you succeed, even against all odds. It is a story that deserves to be heard.

  • Healing the Asian’s Shame: Virginity with Lilian Warman

To be a virgin is the most important things in a girl’s life. This is how women have been taught in the Asian culture, and the Asian’s shame is when you lose that virginity before you get married. Yoga instructor and an intuitive coach Lilian Warman escaped from Vietnam at the age of twelve and came to US at the age of fourteen in 1982. She was raped several times during the transit. Lilian carried that stigma for years, and not being able to open up and talk about it made the anger, resentment, guilt, and shame eat at her inside like cancer. It was only when she discovered yoga that she was able to give herself permission to talk and emotionally detoxify her body that healed her childhood trauma and awakened her soul. She is now helping other women who were sexually violated to clear the pain and to live happy by teaching them how to love themselves.
