On Win's Women of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win Kelly Charles welcomes Ally Nathaniel. Ally is an immigrant. She came to the U.S. in 2006 with two young children. Her youngest daughter was born here. As a stay-at- home mom Ally looked for a job that would allow her to spend as much time as possible with her children, and since Ally couldn’t find one she started teaching cooking and baking classes at schools and day- care centers. While doing that Ally wrote a children’s cookbook based on those classes. When the book was ready she started looking for a publisher and sent nearly 100 letters to different publishers, just to get rejection letters or no responses at all. Ally felt both discouraged and disappointed. Ally needed to generate more money but she didn’t want to get a traditional job. It was then when Ally learned about Amazon KDP and decided to give it a try. Ally wrote a children’s book, inspired by her daughter, found an illustrator and in less than a month her book was ready. Well, at least that’s what she thought… Ally was sure the illustrator would format the book for Kindle but she was wrong, so wrong! When Ally realized the illustrator wasn’t going to do that for her, first Ally panicked because she had no idea how to get her book published, then Ally called two e-publishing coaches and left messages. Ally was desperate for help but they didn’t call back and she then realized that she needed to do it herself. Figuring out how to do everything was extremely hard and time-consuming. Ally spent hours and hours collecting information and implementing it. There were just too many technical steps to follow and she had no support or help. Ally felt overwhelmed at the beginning, then discouraged and then she became just plain annoyed. It was maddening! Publishing an ebook for the first time can be very frustrating. The bottom line is that she  did it! And when Ally finally published the book it was a big hit!! Her book became a #1 bestseller for children ages 0-6 for more than 16 weeks and Ally sold over 30,000 copies in less than 5 months. This experience is the reason Ally decided to become an e-publishing coach because she just doesn't want to see anyone struggle the way she did when they want to get their dream book published!
