  • Session 123 - Q & A
This session addresses common theological misconceptions regarding biblical interpretation, specifically critiquing the spiritualized views of premillennialism and Calvinism that deny a literal future reign of Christ. The discussion emphasizes the necessity of a literal interpretation of Scripture, using the contrast between the white horse in Revelation 6 and 19 to demonstrate the distinct roles of the Antichrist and the Lord Jesus. It further explores the doctrine of eternal security by clarifying the unforgivable sin as the conscious rejection of the Holy Spirit's testimony, distinguishing it from mere doubt or lack of understanding. The speakers advise believers to anchor their faith in the clear and plain teachings of the Bible rather than allowing ambiguous passages to undermine their assurance of salvation. Finally, the conversation highlights the importance of recognizing historical foreshadows, such as the persecution of Jews, as indicators of the tribulation period while maintaining a focus on God's sovereign knowledge and the believer's secure position in Christ.

  • Making Winners Out of Losers
This sermon explores the theological paradox of spiritual victory through the lens of Philippians 3, arguing that true winners are those who recognize their inherent spiritual defeat apart from Christ. The speaker contrasts human credentials, such as lineage, education, and moral standing, with the sufficiency of faith in Jesus, emphasizing that all earthly gains must be counted as loss to gain the excellency of knowing Christ. The message encourages believers to view the Christian life as a competitive race requiring sacrifice and perseverance, where surrendering one's own will leads to divine empowerment. By illustrating how God transforms the broken and hopeless into victors, the sermon calls for a posture of humility and active pursuit of the prize of God's high calling. Ultimately, it assures the audience that while they may lose worldly comforts, they gain eternal rewards and the assurance of being declared winners at the judgment seat of Christ.

  • The Power of Conscience
This sermon explores the theological and practical dimensions of the human conscience, arguing that it is a universal moral faculty that judges individuals regardless of their exposure to written law. The message examines how conscience functions to convict, condemn, and create fear, while also noting that it can be deadened by sin or retrained through biblical knowledge. Central to the discourse is the distinction between a defiled conscience, which hinders spiritual confidence, and a clear conscience, which enables believers to draw near to God with full assurance of faith. The speaker emphasizes that true cleansing comes not from good works or avoidance, but from the blood of Christ and the difficult process of making restitution to others. Ultimately, the sermon urges listeners to pursue integrity and confession, asserting that the price of a clear conscience is essential for effective ministry and a stable relationship with God.

  • #63-Our Heavenly High Priest
This sermon examines Hebrews 8:1-6 to establish the superiority of Jesus Christ as a heavenly high priest who ministers in the true tabernacle pitched by God, rather than an earthly one. The exposition highlights that Christ's sitting at the right hand of the Majesty signifies the completion of His redemptive work, His authority, and His role in recording the believer's acquittal. It further explains that while His sacrificial offering is finished, His ongoing ministry involves voluntarily presenting the praise, thanksgiving, and good works of believers to the Father, for which they have no direct access apart from Him. The message contrasts this permanent, sufficient ministry with the temporary Levitical system, urging believers to abandon the shadows of the Old Testament and rest in the assurance of the better covenant mediated by Christ.

  • True Rest
This devotional explores the concept of true spiritual rest, distinguishing it from worldly comforts or financial security. It argues that genuine peace of mind is not found in human effort or moral performance but is rooted exclusively in the finished work of Christ. The message addresses two common sources of anxiety: the fear that good works are necessary to maintain God's favor and the doubt that one's salvation is insecure due to ongoing sin. By emphasizing that God's love is immutable and that believers are held securely by the Father, the sermon encourages a confidence that flows from faith in Jesus rather than self-assessment. This assurance ultimately transforms the believer's approach to prayer, allowing them to come before God with humility and trust, knowing they are heard and loved regardless of their daily failures.

  • Limiting God (Remastered)
Is the Christian experience one of rejoicing, love, hope, and assurance of faith? Is that life marked by delight in God's commands and promises? While God has promised great joy and hope to believers, Christians often follow the way of the Israelites when they doubt, complain, and live in a constant state of uncertainty. In this sermon on Psalm 78:41 titled "Limiting God," Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones teaches that when the Christian follows this way, they limit God's power, grace, and glory rather than showcasing His excellencies to the world. Complaining and heavy hearts declare to the world that the way of God is cumbersome and sorrowful. It says the commands of God are difficult and God is not concerned with the Christian's joy. Follow along with Dr. Lloyd-Jones as he provides the "tests" of assurance, joy, delight, and peace to evaluate hearts in light of the life-giving promises of the Holy God. Listen and be reminded that God provides great joy that cannot be shaken to the believer who earnestly seeks the presence of the Triune God as their source of delight and life. Take comfort in knowing that an assurance of salvation is given as a means of joy and comfort for the believer and be challenged by Dr. Lloyd-Jones's reminder that the believer who does not hold fast to these promises is limiting the Holy One of Israel.

  • Are You Spiritually Minded? Introduction to John Owen, works Volume 7
Welcome back to the podcast as we continue our systematic journey through William Goold's classic edition of The Collected Works of John Owen. In today's episode, we explore the deep pastoral landscape of Volume 7, charting Owen's clinical diagnosis of spiritual backsliding and his gospel remedy for a languishing soul. We begin in 1676 with The Nature and Causes of Apostasy from the Gospel, examining Owen's surgical breakdown of Hebrews 6 and his diagnostic checklist in Chapter 6 for identifying secret heart-declension and spiritual sloth. From there, we open his 1681 work, The Grace and Duty of Being Spiritually Minded, pausing in Chapter 9 to confront Owen's searching concern that true spiritual mindedness has become tragically rare in the church—a warning we compare directly with the psychological severity of Jonathan Edwards's Religious Affections and Alexander Allen's famous commentary on it. Finally, we conclude with Owen's posthumous 1688 treatise, Of the Dominion of Sin and Grace, walking through Chapters 3 and 4 to distinguish between the persistent presence of indwelling corruption and the reigning dominion of sin, anchoring our ultimate assurance in the covenantal promise that under grace, sin shall not have the final say.

  • Finding Confidence In The Fear Of The Lord
This sermon examines Proverbs 14:26 to argue that true confidence is not a self-generated trait but a byproduct of living in the fear of the Lord. The message distinguishes between servile fear, which drives people away from God, and reverent awe, which draws believers near to Him in obedience and worship. By analyzing the preposition "in," the text presents the fear of God as a dwelling place where strong, fortified confidence is found, contrasting this with the instability of self-reliance. The sermon further explores how this reverence creates a stable home environment that serves as a refuge for the next generation, ensuring that children inherit both spiritual security and moral stability. Ultimately, the message calls believers to cultivate a daily habit of reverence, allowing God's assurance to replace anxiety and provide a lasting shelter for their families.

  • You Have Skirted This Mountain Long Enough
This devotional explores the Israelites' journey around Mount Seir as a metaphor for the believer's experience of waiting and uncertainty. It highlights three key aspects of God's character revealed in Deuteronomy: His wisdom in setting boundaries, His perfect timing in directing change, and His constant presence during periods of delay. The message encourages listeners to resist the urge to force outcomes or claim what is not theirs, trusting instead that God sees the entire journey. By emphasising that God was present and providing throughout the forty years of wandering, the sermon offers comfort to those currently in a season of waiting, assuring them that they have lacked nothing and that the turn will come in God's time.
