What does it mean to believe the gospel? To believe the gospel means trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life because of His death and resurrection. Salvation is God's free gift, received by faith alone apart from works, religious rituals, or personal performance. While obedience and discipleship are vital, they are the result of salvation—not the requirement for it. Because Christ's work on the cross is complete, believers can rest in the assurance of eternal life based on His promise. This life-changing truth should inspire us to joyfully proclaim the good news of God's saving grace to others.
