This sermon will conclude the series by getting to the important subject of achieving victory. David was not only confident in his own skin, he was confident in the Lord. We don’t have to kill our giants with extravagant weapons (metaphorically speaking). The Lord is our strength. Our giants may look intimidating at first, like Goliath, but they are nothing compared to the power of God.

Whenever we confront our giants, we have to be comfortable in who we are and who God made us to be. We are all unique people and have had unique experiences that shaped us. Therefore, before we confront our giants, we have to trust in who God has made us to be and that he has given us enough to slay the giant in our own skin. We don’t have to be somebody else!

When David calls out the giant and tunes out the noise from his brother, he is then confronted by Saul as a person who does not have enough of what it takes to beat Goliath, but David points to his experience in tough situations, and how those situations have made him stronger and gave him confidence that God is with him in the struggle. Whenever we look toward our giant or giants, we have to trust that our past experiences have helped us to mature into a stronger and more resilient person. And to trust that God has been and will be there with us in the future as giants come our way.
