Author and longtime marketing communications professional Berenice Kleiman shares the hard-earned wisdom of her experience.
Her husband and business partner, Herb Kleiman, lived for 20 years after a devastating stroke. Berenice tells their story in "One Stroke, Two Survivors" and "Lessons Learned: Stroke Recovery From a Caregiver's Perspective." Both books are available to download for free on http://www.onestroketwosurvivors.com/.
After Herb passed away in April 2020, Berenice wrote "Widowhood 101" and is seeking a publisher so that others can have the benefit of her knowledge.
In this episode, Justin Alan Hayes, author of "The House of You" series, shares five workforce preparation tips for a successful career.
Sara Kass is the head coach and owner of Cyrano's Place, where everyone is welcome, she says, as long as there's respect. Sara describes herself as a "mere 5-foot-1," but she can take down 6-foot guys. That's because fencing is more about smarts versus physicality. It's also surprisingly accessible. She says she can train an 80-year-old to enjoy competing on a local/regional level.
In our third episode about voting, we're featuring Cynthia Peeples, a member of the League of Women Voters of Hudson, and her daughter Aiyanah. The Nov. 3 election is Aiyanah's first as an eligible voter. Cynthia talks about the value of voting at each level of government — local, state, national, and Aiyanah tells why it's important to engage voters in her demographic.
In the second of three episodes featuring members of the nonpartisan organization League of Women Voters, Karen Leith and Rosanne Thomas, both of LWV of Hudson, discuss the need for a new generation to step up to work the polls, and the benefits of doing so.
Lisa René DeBenedictis, Emmy-nominated screenwriter and producer, talks about her book, Short Skirts and Shorter Stories: Musings on Life, Love and Lust. This debut collection of humorous and often deeply moving stories and poems, sourced from Lisa's extraordinary life, came out in December 2015 and is still quite relevant today.
In this second conversation with Justin Alan Hayes, MBA, author of "The House of You: Prescription for Living," he talks about dealing with mental illness during a pandemic, the very public battles of celebrities who have mental health issues, and the tools that Justin has in his "Prescription for Living" toolbox.
This is the first of a three-part series in which @HomeRadio interviews members of the League of Women Voters of Hudson. In this episode, Carol O'Connell, President of LWV of Hudson, and Beverly Dorson, Voter Service Chair of LWV of Hudson, talk about vote411.org, a free, user-friendly site sponsored by the national League of Women Voters Education Fund. Carol and Bev also discuss many other voter-related topics including the importance of checking your registration even if you've voted in past elections. Finally, they encourage all Ohioans and, of course, all eligible voters in the U.S. to vote.
This episode is the first of two interviews with Justin Alan Hayes, MBA, author of "The House of You: Prescription for Living," his autobiography of mental health recovery. Justin shares advice based on his lifelong experience with mental health issues, with the goal of helping others make positive strides toward their own recovery.
@HomeRadio: At Ease Where We Are is about feeling "at home" with ourselves and the world. When we’re happy and at ease with our own selves, we have more capacity for kindness and understanding toward others.
In our introduction and first episode, we talk about the intent of @HomeRadio and then interview Bernie Silverman, a Dallas-based marketing professional who grew up in Northeast Ohio. Bernie reminisces about the old Municipal Stadium, which was the cavernous former home of the Cleveland Indians, as well as a host of other topics including his days at The Ohio State University and his early lesson in marketing.
