S2 Ep. 42 With social media, self-help books and much of the therapy/mental health industry: Mindset is discussed… A LOT! As women of God, we must go straight to the Bible when we are faced with the creeping discontent that can plague us. Mundane tasks are the primary breeding ground of discontent: Be watchful and careful about how you think of those daily maintenance tasks!

In this episode, we discuss how to adopt and achieve a mindset that is glorifying the Lord, honoring your husband and inspiring your children! We can prolong bad circumstances or enhance good ones, by simply thinking differently. So, during this week of family, rest and gratitude, I hope you find yourselves counting blessings, not counting tasks to do or dishes to wash.

S2 Ep. 40 If you have not listened to part 1 of this short series, I recommend you do so! Let’s discuss solitude. 

Alexandra Stoddard said, “Solitude is the foundation for all genuine work.” When we take time to say “No” to things, we automatically say “Yes” to others. Make sure your time stays your own: on your calling, your ministry and your own regulation.

If you think that solitude is the enemy, let me remind you: Jesus withdrew CONSTANTLY to pray and connect with the Lord. He withdrew to be silent and to listen. If The very Son of God modeled it for us, then we should take it very seriously.

You have heard the verse “Be Still and Know That I Am God.” That is not a suggestion, its a command. We must listen to the one who created us, as He knows best!

I want to challenge you: Create ONE daily ritual of solitude.

S2 Ep. 40 People ask, “How are you?” You say, without missing a beat, “Busy!” And you mean it. We are all so busy. Solitude seems like a personal hell to anyone with ADHD, extroversion or any need for stimulation - but it is necessary for our humanity. In this episode, I give moms of ALL ages and stages ideas for how to reclaim solitude in their own lives: it can seem impossible, yes, but I am here to tell you - it IS!

I am giving you permission to schedule solitude in your life. That is the first step of allowing your mind, emotions and body to rest every once in a while!

Here’s the trick that works for any stage of life: You need to have set times, that repeat often, where you are not available to anyone. Sounds crazy, right? I believe in you! Come back next week for Part 2 of this discussion!

S2 Ep. 39 Maybe it's the glorious Autumn weather, the impending holiday season or the birth of my two newest grandbabies (numbers 13 and 14): life is so beautiful, if we choose to pause and acknowledge the details that make it so. Our Creator blesses us with small moments of joy, peace and sensory experiences throughout our busy weeks, to ground us and allow us to focus on the joy of everyday living.

Enjoying life is not about perfection. Enjoying life is about intention. Life is not about survival. Life is about thriving. Your kids will remember how home felt and how being around you felt, so I encourage you: Don’t miss these opportunities to love your family well.

Alexandra says “Life is too short to be a caretaker of the wrong details.” Isn’t this the truth? We must focus on the details that are lovely, beautiful and life giving for our families!

My purpose in life is to restore peace, beauty and meaning in my home, and to encourage other women to cultivate this as well. Her first husband, Jim Elliot, was killed in 1956 while attempting to make missionary contact with the Auca people of eastern Ecuador. S2 Ep. 35 Halloween… A controversial topic in many Christian circles! What are the origins, the history, the meaning and the point of Halloween? Should we, as Christians, celebrate Halloween?
