European Union heads of state and government met in Brussels on Thursday to discuss a number of pressing issues, with the focus on Turkey. Discussions lasted into the early hours of Friday, but ultimately leaders reached an agreement that assured Greece and Cyprus that the bloc would punish Turkey if it continues its provocations. This paved the way for the EU to also impose sanctions on Belarus.
