"Salvation: A Gospel Oratorio" tells the unknown story of the Rev. David George & the origins of the Black Baptists Church in North America. Set in the late 1700’s, in the days leading up to the civil war, Rev. George’s escape from Slavery inspired many people to find out the source of his strength of overcome hardship. He built a church community that spread from the American Southern colonies to Nova Scotia, Canada, to Sierra Leone, Africa — but his impact has largely been forgotten today.
Written and Researched by Obediya Jones-Darrell, this story consist of traditional Spirituals with music written for choral performance by Soprano, Mezzo-soprano, Alto and Baritone singers as it would have been heard in the late 1700’s.
