Attached to the Invisible

Victor Counted has done work in attachment, spirituality, the experience of immigrants, and attachment to geographical places. We talk about attachment to God in refugee communities, the two phases of attachment to God, and attachment to the Holy Spirit.

Krispin & Amy discuss dismissive/avoidant attachment with God, and how it shows up in the church.

Amy & Krispin discuss characteristics of avoidant attachment (and a little bit about where disorganized attachment fits in this whole system).

Krispin spoke with Ashley Davis Gavilá, DMin about how the church can help heal insecure attachments. We discuss how systems, abuse and absence of understanding power differentials break trust in religious systems, undermining attachment -- as well as how churches can take steps toward being safe communities for healing.

In the interview, Krispin mentions Curt Thompson and Ashley mentions Keith Edwards.

In this episode, we pick up from last time and discuss how we see preoccupied attachment playing out in evangelical theology and ways to begin creating security with God.
