Janice MacInnis has worked in the field of adult learning at Dalhousie for over 20 years. She is the Manager of Organizational Health, enhancing the health of employees and the health of Dalhousie, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, as a workplace. Improving the wellness and experience of employees over the 10 years she has been in this role also connects well with her personally. She has dedicated herself to self-improvement and readily shares her learnings and failures with others. She is known for her personal, caring approach, which allows people to sense that she genuinely wants the best for everyone!! 😃💯👏

What will make you happy right now?! 

How long do you have to think? I don’t mean winning $10 million lottery.  I mean the little things that you can and want to do because you are worth it!! 😃 🎈🙌 

Most people wait until the weekend to have fun or till the next vacation to do things that make them happy.  I encourage you not to wait till you retire or win the lottery but rather devote to doing more of what makes you happy everyday!

Here’s a sample of my list: 

- Meditate 

- Go to the gym, run or brisk walk  

- Write in my appreciation journal 

 - Laugh more 

- Enjoy eating healthy meals 

- A relaxing evening walk  

- More & more fun 👍

Changing our perspective even slightly will change how we see things and our reality!!

As you let go of what you don't want, you become much more relaxed. Practice letting go and watch yourself become more relaxed. 

We have had many more years of practice holding on to worry, fear, doubt, pain, hurt, or resentment. Now if we want to change things, we need to practice building a new habit. 

The challenges you experience are opportunities to practice letting go. Practice building new habit!!

It was also named one of the best 100 books of 2017 by The Globe and Mail, and was shortlisted for the BC Book Prize, the Evelyn Richardson Non-Fiction Award, the Margaret and John Savage First Book Award – Non-Fiction. 

For many years Pauline was a trusted voice on health and medical issues as the national health reporter for CBC News. Her reporting and documentary work has been recognized with many regional, national and international awards. She is a three-time recipient of fellowships from the National Press Foundation in Washington and is a fellow of the MIT/Knight Science Journalism program on medical evidence in Cambridge, Mass. 

She currently teaches journalism and Assoc. Director, at the University of King’s College in Halifax, N.S., Canada. Pauline is a member of the Writers’ Council of the Writers Federation of Nova Scotia and a member of the board of directors for the Canadian Mental Health Association Halifax-Dartmouth Branch.
