  • Pulling myself "out of the story" , So I can show up for me

Recognizing who you don't want to be is a step toward discovering your voice. There may be subjects on which you wish to take a stance and others on which you do not. What are you willing to let go of? It might be difficult to navigate all of the difficulties and views of others. How many people have you unfollowed on social media this year? Consider why you choose to distance yourself from those sad folks. Those folks used their voices in ways that cut you off from them. How do you want to present your values without alienating your friends or friends?

Watch this podcast episode while Walker shares her experience in expressing her own voice and standing up for what she believes in.

Walker Brandt was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California on July 13, 1966. At age 12 started her own business as a horse trainer and exerciser. In her teens, she moved to Los Angeles and enrolled at Los Angeles Valley College. She worked various part-time jobs while taking classes in business, nutrition science, and child development.

During that time, she was approached by a photographer who encouraged Walker to go into modeling and signed with Elite Model Management. When she was 18 years old, Walker moved to Milan, Italy, and started her professional model and acting career. In the 1990s she was featured in major Hollywood productions, including City Slickers (1991), Dante's Peak (1997) & Lunarcop (1995), as well as the US and international TV shows, including Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990), and Die Gang (1997), to name a few.

Walker Brandt has been in the entertainment and advertising industries for over 25 years. She has appeared in international blockbuster films, TV shows, and thousands of Advertising Campaigns and commercials for global brands. In 2020 Walker became a published author with AWAKEN – Discovering Yourself Through the Light of Your Innocence. An Amazon #1 International Best Seller. Awaken shares a vulnerable, intimate journey of overcoming helplessness and thoughts of suicide as a child from the impact of growing up in a violent and alcoholic family.

  • LANGUAGE: Significance to our culture and Society

    LANGUAGE: /ˈlaNGɡwij/

Language is an essential component of any civilization. It is how individuals interact with one another, form connections, and foster a feeling of community.

Language is a crucial feature of communication, which is a fundamental component of every culture. As language evolved, distinct cultural societies used sounds to construct collective understandings. These sounds and their related meanings grew ubiquitous throughout time, and language was established. Intercultural communication is a symbolic process that constructs, maintains, repairs, and transforms social reality. Language is one of the most challenging hurdles that people from diverse ethnic origins confront while interacting. Check out the infographic below to see how language has changed over time!

Ethnicity, gender, geographic region, religion, language, and many other characteristics all contribute to one's cultural identity. Culture is described as a "historically transmitted system of symbols, meanings, and standards." Knowing a language allows someone to immediately identify with people who speak the same language.
