  • Mickey's Not So Scary Pirates of the Caribbean - Magic Kingdom - Attraction Checklist #80

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - During Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom, Pirates of the Caribbean gets a few Halloween touches! In this episode, Grant rides the attraction to see what surprises lie in store! Recorded on August 16, 2019.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

As we head into the Halloween season, I thought it'd be fun to take a ride through one of the attractions at Walt Disney World that receives a few Halloween elements during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. This episode we ride Pirates of the Caribbean.

Here are five fast fact about Magic Kingdom's Pirates of the Caribbean during Mickey's Not SO Scary Halloween Party.

    1. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is a special, separately ticketed event that takes place on select nights at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.

    2. For the 2018 Mickey's Not So Scary season, a new twist was added to Pirates of the Carribbean in the form of live actors dressed as pirates who were sprinkled thoroughout the attraction

    3. Originally in 2018, the live actors told the story of searching for a pirate named 'Gunpowder Pete.' For the 2019 season, when this audio was recorded, though there were live actors throughout the ride, it seems that the Gunpowder Pete storyline has been dropped.

    4. The live actors on the attraction are open to interaction from guests which makes each ride experience pretty unique.

    5. Beginning in 2019 during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, guests were given chocolate doubloons as goodies as they exited the attraction.

Now lets head to Mickey's Not So Scary at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to ride the special Halloween version of Pirates of the Carribbean. I have included a bit of the live pirate actors in the queue area before we board our boat, so you'll hear that first. After the attraction audio, I'll give you my thoughts on this experience and this is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we visit the special Halloween version of Pirates of the Caribbean at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

  • Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room - Magic Kingdom - Attraction Checklist #79

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - By request, let's fly away to the Sunshine Pavilion and experience Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room! We'll learn a little about this iconic attraction and then hear the whole show! Afterwards, Grant will give his thoughts on The Enchanted Tiki Room! Recorded on August 17, 2019.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode, by special request from Nicholas Floyd, we head to Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to bask in the wonder that is Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room! Located in Adventureland, the guide map describes this attraction by saying Watch tropical birds and colorful flowers come to life. There are no age or height requirements for this show and because it is a show, there isn't a Thrill Level listed.

Before we fly off to the tropical hideaway, here are five fast facts about Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

    1. Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room was Magic Kingdom, opening day attraction, opening with the park on October 1, 1971.

    2. The attraction was an exact copy of the attraction found at Disneyland albeit with a different pre-show and a slightly different name. When the Tiki Room opened in Walt Disney World it was called Tropical Serenade. It would jkeep this name for many years, eventually being renamed The Enchanted Tiki Room.

    3. In September of 1997, The Enchanted Tiki Room was closed to make way an overhaul and the addition of new show elements for a new attraction called The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management). This new version of the attraction was much maligned by fans of the original mostly because of the addition of audio animatronics of Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from The Lion King as well as more modern music.

    4. In January of 2011, a fire broke out in the attic of the attraction, seriously damaging one of the Iago audio animatronics.

    5. The attraction re-opened in August of 2011 and the Under New Management elements were stripped away and the show was restored to it original form, save for a few edits in the music to tighten up the show's running time.

Let's head off to Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room for a Tropical Serenade. After the attraction audio, I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction and this is a binaural recording, so if you have headphones, put them on now as we check out Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom!

  • Soarin' Over California 2019 - Disney California Adventure - Attraction Checklist #77

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Soarin' Over California is back for a limited time at Disney California Adventure and I just had to get this classic recorded! Recorded on June 18, 2019.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we head back to an attraction I thought I never be able to record, Soarin' Over California back where it belongs at Disney California Adventure! The Disneyland website says: A California classic soars back for a limited-time engagement that once again sweeps you away above the state's natural and manmade wonders. Guests must be 40" or taller in order to ride this attraction and the Thrill Level describes the ride as being Slow, Dark and loud with small drops. Fastpass is available for this attraction.

Before we once again soar over California, here are five fast facts about Soarin over California and it's return to Disney California Adventure!

    1. Originally, Soarin' Over California was an opening day attraction at Disney California Adventure. It first took off on February 8, 2001.

    2. Soarin' Over California at Disney California Adventure was replaced by Soarin' Around The World in June of 2017. You can hear our adventure on that attraction in episode #29 of the show.

    3. On May 23, 2019, Disney announced that Soarin' Over California would make a limited time return to Disney California Adventure on June 1, 2019. This return was so well received by guests, that the run was extended through August 31, 2019.

    4. On June 1st, upon Soarin' Over California's return, guests exiting the attraction were given free oranges as a tribute to the iconic orange smell experience on the ride.

    5. The return of Soarin' Over California also meant the return of composer Jerry Goldsmith's amazing score which has still been used as area music in many Disney Parks.

Now let's take off once again on Soarin' Over California. After the attraction audio, I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction and this is a binaural recording, so if you have headphones, put them on now as we ride Soarin' Over California at Disney California Adventure!

  • Tarzan's Treehouse - Disneyland - Attraction Checklist #76

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Join John B. deHaas and I as we take a hike up to the top of Tarzan's Treehouse at Disneyland! Recorded on December 2, 2018.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we take a hike to the top of Disneyland's Tarzan's Treehouse. Located in Adventureland, Tarzan's Treehouse is described on the Disneyland website by saying: Tour the legendary vine-swinger's jungle home—built in an 80-foot-tall tree—and experience life on the wild side. There are no height requirements for this attraction but guests must be ambulatory to experience it.

Before we visit Tarzan and Jane, here are five fast facts about Tarzan's treehouse at Disneyland.

    1. Tarzan's Treehouse used to have much different residents. Originally opening in November of 1962, this was the Swiss Family Treehouse and it stayed that way until it's closure on March 8, 1999. The treehouse was then retimed to the Disney movie Tarzan and reopened on June 23, 1999.

    2. The treehouse grew a little when it was retimed to Tarzan, gaining 10 more feet in the process!

    3. The tree has been given the scientific name "Disneyodendron Semperflorens Grandis," which means "large, ever-blooming Disney tree."

    4. Subtle nods to the Swiss Family Treehouse are present in Tarzan's Treehouse, including the Mind Thy Head sign which is still present.

    5. Eagle eyed guests will spot a Beauty and the Beast Easter egg in a teapot and chipped tea cup that bear a striking resemblance to Mrs. Potts and Chip.

Now let's swing up to Tarzan's Treehouse. Joining me today is John B. deHaas and after we walk through we'll discuss our thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we head to Tarzan's Treehouse at Disneyland!

  • Festival of the Lion King - Disney's Animal Kingdom - Walt Disney World - Attraction Checklist #75

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - One of the most popular shows at Disney's Animal Kingdom, heck in just about any Disney park, is Festival of the Lion King. In this episode, I head to the Harambe Theatre to check it out! Recorded on March 21, 2019.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode I head out to Disney's Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World to see the long running show Festival of the Lion King. Located in the Africa section of the park, Festival Of The Lion King is described in the guide map by saying: Come inside and experience the pageantry and puppetry of this big as Broadway show. There are no height requirements for this attraction and FastPass Plus is available.

Before we head to the Harambe Theatre to see the show, here are five fast facts about Festival of the Lion King.

    1. Festival of the Lion King debuted at Disney's Animal Kingdom on April 22, 1998.

    2. The show opened in a theater in the Camp Minnie-Mickey area of the park but in 2014, the show took a hiatus as a new theater was built. The former location in Camp Minnie-Mickey was replaced with Pandora - The world of Avatar.

    3. Many of the floats in the show are repurposed from Disneyland's Lion King Celebration parade that ran from 1994 to 1997.

    4. Festival of the Lion King features a cast of 50 performers who require over 130 costumes!

    5. In March of 2016, a small fire broke out in the elephant float during the show. Guests were evacuated and the fire was quickly put out with no injuries and not much damage reported.

Now let's enjoy Festival of the Lion King. After the show I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction and, as always, this is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now! This is Festival of the Lion King at Disney's Animal Kingdom!

  • Hyperspace Mountain - Disneyland - Attraction Checklist #74

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - As the Galaxy's Edge celebration continues, we take a ride on the pre-Batuu Space Mountain overlay known as Hyperspace Mountain. Recorded on May 13, 2019.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

As we celebrate the opening of Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland, let's take a ride on a pre-Batuu attraction, the Space Mountain overlay known as Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. Hyperspace Mountain is described on the Disneyland website by saying: Hurtle through hyperspace while dodging furious dogfights during this high-speed Star Wars adventure! Riders must be 40" or taller to ride this attraction that the thrill level describes as being a thrill ride with small drops that is Dark Loud and Scary. Fast Passes are available for this attraction and a single rider line is available.

Before we fire up the hyper drive, here are 5 fast facts about Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain.

    1. Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain first blasted into Disneyland on November 14, 2015 as part of the Season of the Force event celebrating the release of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens film.

    2. According to Walt Disney Imagineering's Executive Creative Director Brent Strong, it only takes a single hour to change Space Mountain from the classic version to Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. He is quoted as saying, "The longest part from switching from classic Space Mountain to Hyperspace Mountain is actually putting up the marquee in front of the attraction."

    3. The development of Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain started with the music of Star Wars composer John Williams. Imagineers would edit together different pieces of the score and then ride the attraction with headphones and personal audio devices to see how the music timed out with the ride.

    4. The new soundtrack for Hyperspace Mountain was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at famed Abby Road Studios.

    5. According to the storylines, the space battle that takes place during the ride is actually the one that caused all the wrecked Star Destroyers on the planet of Jakku that the character of Rey is searching through in the beginning of The Force Awakens.

Now it's time to ride Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. After the ride I'll talk about my thoughts on this attraction and, this is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we experience Star Wars Hyper Space Mountain at Disneyland!

  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run - Disneyland - Attraction Checklist #73

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - In this episode we visit Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland to take THREE rides on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Recorded on June 3, 2019.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This is a special supersized episode of Attraction Checklist as we celebrate the opening of Galaxy's Edge with not one but THREE rides on the brand new attraction Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run!

The guidemap describes this attraction by saying: Fly the Millennium Falcon on a thrilling interactive smuggling mission. Guests must be 38" or taller in order to ride and the Thrill Level describes the ride as being a thrill ride with small drops that is Dark and Loud. FastPass will eventually be available for this attraction and there is a single rider line.

Before we get our marching orders from Hondo, here are five fast facts about Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

    1. Though fans knew a Millennium Falcon attraction was being built for Galaxy's Edge, it didn't receive its official name, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, until November 17, 2018 when it was announced at Destination D.

    2. After going through some early previews, the ride officially opened to the public at Disneyland on May 31, 2019.

    3. The storyline of the attraction puts it immediately after 2017's The Last Jedi. Chewbacca has brought the Millennium Falcon to Black Spire Outpost to receive some repairs after the events in that film.

    4. The animatronic of Hondo that is featured in the preshow area of the attraction is one of the most advanced, next generation A1000 Animatronics ever built. It features 51 total functions, 10 in the head alone! Taking a cue from Ben Franklin and Olaf, this animatronic even appears to take a few steps as if walking!

    5. The outcome of the attraction depends on how well you and your crew work as a team and because of that there can be little variations in the film and the on ride dialogue. Another difference depends on when you ride the attraction. If it's during the day, you take off during the day. Ride the attraction at night, and you take of a night. A great little detail.

Well now let's ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. I have three versions of the ride for you. We will skip the queue and go right to the ride for my first ride and review. Then we'll check out the queue and the preshow for my third ride through the attraction. The first and third rides have different outcomes so listen for those. Finally, I was fortunate enough to get to ride the attractions SOLO! So that audio will bring up the rear. In addition to my reviews, I have a special review with Paul Barrie of the Window To The Magic Podcast at the very end of this episode. And one last thing, if you'l like to hear 50 minutes of me describing my entire, two day, trip to Galaxy's Edge, it is available as a bonus episode to the Saturday Morning Media Patreon Patron who pledge $5 or more a month. Okay, let's hit the hyper drive! This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we experience Disneyland's Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run!

  • Mickey's Philharmagic - Disney California Adventure - Attraction Checklist #72

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Mickey's PhilharMagic has made its way into Disney California Adventure. Will it receive a standing ovation? Grant reviews it in this episode! Recorded on May 13, 2019.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we check out the latest show offering at Disney California Adventure, Mickey's PhilharMagic! Located in Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure Park, Mickey's PhilharMagic is described on the Disneyland Resort website by saying: Immerse yourself in the wonder of Disney animation and music when you experience this 12-minute, 3D movie starring Donald Duck. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction.

Before we don our opera glasses, here are five fast facts about Mickey's PhilharMagic.

    1. Mickey's PhilharMagic opened at Disney California Adventure on April 26, 2019.

    2. The first iteration of Mickey's PhilharMagic opened at Walt Disney World in October of 2003 in a specially built theater. Because the former MuppetVision 3D theater in California Adventure is smaller, a smaller version of the film is used. This is similar to the version that opened in Disneyland Paris in 2018.

    3. The attraction is the second collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney Animation Studios, the first being the nighttime spectacular Fantastic!

    4. Most of Donald Duck's dialogue used in the film is archival recordings of Donald's original voice actor, Clarence Nash.

    5. The Little Mermaid animator, Glen Keane returned to render Ariel in 3D for the attraction and Beauty and the Beast animator Nik Ranieri returned to animate Lumiere.

Now let's check out Mickey's PhilharMagic! After the performance, I'll share my thoughts with you on this attraction and this is recorded in binaural audio so you'll want to put on your headphones! Here is Mickey's PhilharMagic at Disney California Adventure!

  • O' Canada! - Epcot - Walt Disney World - Attraction Checklist #71

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - This episode I head back to Epcot to experience all the CircleVision 360 Magic that is O'Canada! Recorded on March 21, 2019.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we go to Florida to visit the Great White North. Of course I'm talking about seeing the Circle-Vision 360 film O' Canada! At the Canada pavilion at Epcot. Located in Epcot's World Showcase, O' Canada is described in the guide map by saying Discover the True North of Canada in this inspirational Circle-Vision 360 film. There are no age or height requirements for this film.

Now, here are five fast fact about Epcot's O' Canada!

    1. O' Canada! is an Epcot opening day attraction, opening with the park on October 1, 1982.

    2. Though the version of the film we will listen to today has footage from the original 1982 production, the film was updated in 2007 at the urging of the Canadian Tourism Commission. For this update, new footage was shot and Martin Short was added as the host of the film.

    3. The iconic Epcot song 'Canada - You're A Lifelong Journey' was updated in 2007 as well. It is now sung by Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila

    4. The O' Canada! Circle-Vision 306 theater is located in the Maple Leaf Mine in the Canada Pavilion. The theater can hold up to 600 guests per showing.

    5. On November 19, 2018, Disney announced that they are working on an entirely new Circle-Vision 360 film for the Canada Pavilion that will debut in the future.

Now let's hear my experience at O' Canada! In Epcot. After the audio I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction so stay tuned for that. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we hear O' Canada! At Epcot!
