In this episode, Jason and Damien discuss the use of CompStat in modern policing and the pros and cons of its variants. Damien’s badge story pertains to a hit-and-run incident he helped investigate that landed the offender over a decade of prison time and the victim, while alive, an unfortunate life-changing event. Damien encourages aspiring analysts to invest in GIS courses, secure internships, and join professional associations (and attend their training conferences) to kick off their careers. Damien is currently a research data analyst for the City of Rock Hill (SC), a position he’s held for almost 20 years!
