Imposter Syndrome is the feeling that you haven’t earned your success, you simply got lucky, and you’re a fraud or “imposter” around people who actually earned it and know what they’re doing. It makes one feel that they do not have the skills or expertise to hold their current job, but instead made it there “by chance;” they think if anyone found out how little they know about their job, they’d be fired immediately.

Imposter Syndrome can cause people to doubt themselves and their ideas at work. This can lead people to avoid sharing their work, leading initiatives, or pursuing challenging tasks for fear of being discovered as an “imposter.”If you’ve experienced this feeling, you are not alone. Eight years ago Simone Oliver was stalked and stabbed 27 times by someone she knew. In this conscious conversation Simone shares how she embraced her broken pieces to RESCRIPT her narrative.

Meet Simone

Simone Oliver is a passionate preacher, educator, life coach and advocate for women whose pragmatic, earthy style reaches the heart of an issue.  Simone is committed to the spiritual care of women and girls, bringing healing to wounded hearts by God’s grace and finding solutions to gender-based violence through prevention and awareness education.  Simone is a powerful preacher of the Gospel and a gifted empowerment speaker and facilitator.

The 2018 Women in the Workplace report recently released by McKinsey & Company and LeanIn.Org reports that for every 100 men promoted to manager-level roles, only 79 women moved up into similar roles. The numbers are even more abysmal for women of color, who make up only 17% of entry-level roles and 4% of C-suite positions. Additionally 33% of women—and 41% of black women—do not have access to senior leaders.

Meet Nefertari ---

Nefertari K.B. Pross, is an Attorney, Arts Advocate and Musician. She is a multifaceted woman utilizing all of her talents to consistently create meaningful change in law, arts, and civil and human rights. Her works rests squarely at the intersection of arts and social justice.

Currently, as an attorney, Nefertari serves as Senior Equal Opportunity Advisor for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity, where she enforces civil rights regulations in housing and mortgage lending. She started her legal career in New York City, and in 2016 joined the Detroit HUD office as a member of HUD’s official response team to the Flint Water Crisis. She also served under the Obama Administration, as the White House Jobs Ambassador to the City of Flint where she worked diligently to increase jobs and summer engagement for young people. In honor of her work in Flint, Nefertari received awards from the Flint Housing Commission and the Flint Federal Executive Board for her Outstanding Service to the City of Flint.
