Continuing with the "Taking Control of Our Narrative" series, we're discussing health disparities and advocating for your health. Having a healthy, mind, and body is the single most important asset to have in order to build thriving communities.
In this episode, I spoke with Terrica Rumph and Aquita Thomas, the creators of Mind, Melanin, & Medicine, a podcast geared towards helping African Americans in healthcare.
Aquita is a board-certified adult-gerontology primary care Nurse Practitioner. She received her bachelor's in Nursing in 2014 and her master's in Nursing in 2017 both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She currently works at an internal medicine clinic in Alabama. She also is a part-time adjunct nursing instructor for a college within her community.
Terrica Rumph is a Family Nurse Practitioner with 7 years of experience in healthcare. She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama, where she received both her Doctorate and Master's degree in Nursing. Terrica prides herself on providing excellent patient care and being a healthcare advocate for those in the African American community. She currently resides in Atlanta, GA.
As clinicians, the two have a passion for healthcare as well as mentorship and ultimately want to see African Americans in healthcare thrive.
