The term perverse is often used in the context of sexuality. Originally it comes from the Latin term perversus and means upside down, wrong, bad, degenerate. Perverts are not only people with an unhealthy behaviour in the area of sexuality. For me, perverse or perverted are also things that no longer correspond to their actual form or serve their purpose. For example, when shareholders no longer make their money available to a company for its further development, but are only out to make as much profit as possible. Or when medicines are no longer used for recovery, but to achieve an ideal figure, etc. We can all ask ourselves whether we have sick or perverted patterns in certain areas of life. If so: fortunately, one can pervert the perversion - and thus bring it back into the healthy being.

Exercising is quite trendy nowadays. Both men and women go to the gym or run marathons, etc. Without training, there is no increase in ability - no matter which: be it strength or endurance or technique. For me, training is a conscious act of doing something with a specific goal, whereby an improvement should occur over time: be it that you are faster at it or need less effort to achieve it, etc. This can be done not only with the body, but also with the eyes: I can train my eyes and many do this automatically: namely when someone has a hobby or is a collector. Then you have a trained eye for the objects of passion. One discovers them everywhere and can distinguish them very well. This also applies to strengths and weaknesses in oneself and others. What does your trained eye see? Would a change in your training programme perhaps be helpful and lead to more satisfaction or relaxation?

If you are a watch wearer and prefer an analogue watch, you may have luminous numerals or hands. When it's bright, you can't see if the hands or numerals are really luminous, but only when it's dark. In daylight, these chemical substances that have been applied to the hands and indices become charged in most cases, so that this glow becomes visible when there is no light. I appreciate it very much when I can read the time at night or otherwise in the dark. However, the legibility of the time depends on how long the luminous material has been exposed to light or how strong the light source was in which the material was able to charge up. This determines the radiant power. It's the same with us humans: we radiate in dark times what we expose ourselves to in quiet times, reflect what we have previously opened ourselves to. I distinguish between two types of saving. One I call eco-optimised and the other sustainable. The former is about using the available funds or resources in the most optimised way possible so that the investment brings the maximum return. For example, I only use as much washing powder as is really necessary - in other words, I save on powder - so that the laundry just gets clean. If I use too little, I only have damage: wasted powder and still dirty laundry. Nevertheless, you don't want to invest more than is absolutely necessary. The second variant is sustainable: I save with the aim of using as little of the resource as possible in order to conserve another resource: for example, more efficient vehicle engines. Not less fuel with the aim of being able to drive longer and further, but less of a burden on the environment for the same distance. The focus, the intention is different. Imagine you have a thread-straight sturdy wire, not very easy to bend, about 15cm long. What can you do with it? Probably not much at all. Maybe drill a thin hole somewhere with it or, with a bit of strength and under certain circumstances, fix something by wrapping the wire around the thing. However, if this wire is folded mechanically and professionally, it becomes a paper clip. This is truly practical for stapling paper together or closing open bags and more. The same wire, however, purposefully and professionally processed, brings benefit and added value. The forming process may be hard, however, and a lot of external force against resistance is necessary. Sometimes life shapes us against our will and there is a lot of inner resistance. If you have memories or painful phases, then trust that there can still be added value and benefit in them and that there is not only pain.

The advantage of seeing with only one eye is that when it is good, you see well. If, on the other hand, you have two eyes and one of them is impaired, this affects your overall vision. So the good eye cannot correct or cancel out the defects of the corrupted eye. On the other hand, if you see with only one eye, you lose the depth of field that can only occur with two eyes, preferably healthy ones. Clear vision therefore imposes certain conditions. This is also true in a figurative sense. If we are biased in our view or no longer objective, this will automatically influence our view and thus our interpretation of what we see. This can be positive or negative. Therefore, it is good to critically question ourselves every now and then how our made opinions, judgements or evaluations come about and from which perspective and interpretation they originate. This check can prevent us from making wrong decisions.

We all know thirst from our own experience. Thirst becomes more intense in the absence of hydration and humans are not able to go nearly as long without water as they can without food. Thirst is a signal from the body that an elementary need must be satisfied. We also know thirst for life. The desire for life, for fulfilment, for meaning. Analogous to the thirst of the body, the soul also has thirst. Thirst of the soul must be perceived. How and on what do you satisfy it? In the prayer book of the Bible there is the statement "My soul thirsts for God, for the living God". I find that an enormously strong statement. This soul is not thirsty for religion or meditation or rest - but for a real counterpart, for a God who is personal and alive and can be experienced. I know this thirst from my own experience. In English there is the expression "when the rubber hits the road". It means: a theory or idea is tested to see if it actually works. In that sense, it is a kind of reality check, as they say. In the best case, this can be confirming and encouraging; in the worst case, it can be sobering and frustrating. We experience such moments from time to time in life. When we are doing well, we may have clear ideas about how to cope with difficult times and concepts and ideas and thus images of ourselves. But when those difficult times come, it becomes apparent whether those ideas really hold up: that's when the rubber meets the road and it becomes apparent whether the rubber is strong enough to stand. If you find yourself in such testing times, I wish you a lot of strength and steadfastness and also courage, especially when ideal images are shattered. That is also allowed.

Do you have a passion for something like jewellery, shoes, bags or anything else? Then you know the effect of liking something because you've seen it on someone else or in a shop window. But when you try it on and wear it yourself, it looks less good or inappropriate on you - you are disappointed. You can then quickly reject yourself and make yourself small, thinking "if only I were like this or like that or different at that point, then this piece would look so great on me." One is frustrated. This attitude is understandable but ultimately destructive. It's good when I can enjoy something beautiful - even if someone else is wearing it or it's in a shop window and it doesn't suit me. It's great when I can still enjoy the beauty, even if I can't have the item for myself. How liberating and happy. Are you able to do that? Can you perhaps become freer here?
