Just think, the last time you were drunk, you were in a hot tub with five other naked people after the bar closed at 2:00 a.m., and things definitely got weird. Aren’t you glad you don’t live like that any longer? Haha! Sure, we had some fun moments, but it wasn’t all misery, depression, and anxiety-filled days. We had moments that were absolutely memorable and full of joy and complete hilarity. Even though our lives were centered around drugs and alcohol, it wasn’t devoid of the normal flow of life. As time progressed, so did our addiction and alcoholism. When we numbed the bad parts, we ended up numbing the good ones, too. After a while, we rarely find the good in all the bad. The fun times disappear, leaving us a long time before we realize what has happened, yet we hang on to the substances that seem to have saved us. Some of us grew tired of being sick and tired and reached out for help. Some of us felt we were giving up by asking for help. But, after some time sober, we soon discovered that we were refusing to give up by asking for help.
