When you say “yes” to one thing, you say “no” to something else. Remember that the next time you decide to take on a side project or help a neighbor move. All good deeds don’t go unpunished. We only exchange one moment for another. As they say in A.A., “a price had to be paid.” And we may pay for it by missing time with our family and friends, not having time to take our dog for a walk, or just sitting and watching the evening news. When we say “yes” to too many things, we get overwhelmed and naturally get resentful at the lack of time we have for ourselves. So, learn to say “no” more often so you can say “yes” to something else. Give yourself the most precious gift of the most non-renewable resource in the world, the gift of time.
