Both Jacob and Esau were sinful, messed up men who are not worthy of emulating. But in the midst of this, the story points to Jesus as God's unmerited and undeserved grace.

In this week's text, we see a final test of faith for Abraham, the sacrifice of his beloved son Isaac. Through this, we continue to see the faithfulness of God in the midst of test and trial. In the same way that God provided the sacrifice for Abraham and Isaac on top of Mt. Moriah, he has also given us Jesus, the Lamb who died so we don't have to.
