In conversation with Terry Hyde
In this podcast episode, we talk about ’the rest of the story’. While dancers find themselves constantly encouraged to speak up if they see, or experience injustice or abuse at their school/their company, we do believe that it is of utmost importance to discuss that speaking up can get you into a whole lot of trouble. Something you may not be prepared for.
Terry tells us about bullies and narcissistic personalities in leadership positions, and how they can impact a dancer’s life. An episode not to be missed! Uncomfortable, but needed.

PHYSIOTHERAPY, S&C and ONLINE TRAINING - in conversation with Sally Harrison (@strength4dance and @band_its.official)
The brilliant Sally Harrison talks all things
Sally and I had a blast - never before have I laughed so much in an episode! Especially when we realized that our paths could have crossed ages ago in London when I was a student and Sally already an accomplished artist. Definitely recommend to tune in on IGTV as well to see Sally explain ’The Pyramid of Performance for Dance’ - so happy we kept the video footage as well, as this helps understand the importance of this pyramid.
ENJOY!
A while ago 85% of our followers participating in a poll said that they tend to have negative thoughts, or bad habits like
Now, 2020 has been tough on most of us, and the arts the artists have been hit particularly hard. So many graduates not having properly graduated, but also not having had a change to finish their audition tour, so many dancers still not knowing when they will either be able to get back to a studio, not to mention the stage, so many dreams in tatters.
.
I spoke to the brilliant Philippa from @stageminded, a former dancer with @hamburgballet, now settled as counsellor and back in Australia, founder of StageMinded, school counsellor for @theaustralianballetschool, and my partner for the new program LEAP OVERSEAS (click here). We discussed these dancer-typical character traits, in general, and in particular during the current coronavirus crisis, and also for those moving away from home to pursue their dream

In this episode, Friedrich and Amelia (@dancersconnect.de) tell us about the rather unique situation in Germany, where public funding for the arts is far more part of the culture than in many other countries, how dancers can raise their voice even in very difficult situations, why unions are so important, where to seek support, and how to help build a better future for dance in Germany - the main reason why Friedrich founded Dancersconnect. This episode is for dancers from all over the world, and also students. Germany being one of the most popular destinations for dancers from overseas, definitely do not miss out, we discuss lots of points that you probably have never heard of before, and we also don’t shy away from difficult topics like abuse. This episode will help you become the most accomplished artist you can be. If you’re considering auditioning for schools and companies in Germany, this episode is a must!

On Sunday, May 10, I sat down to record a single episode for you to understand the confusing and often very mixed messages about the new coronavirus and what it means for our daily lives. I've touched on herd immunity, vaccines, drugs, kids, face masks, warmer weather, antibody testing kits, and how we perceive numbers published by governments. Hope this will clarify a lot!
We set out to discuss the plantbased swaps that Ballerina Bites uses for her new ANZAC biscuits recipe - and then found ourselves rambling about diet culture in general, in the dance world in particular, how disordered eating can easily be triggered in a dance environment, and who should advice on a dancer's diet - and who should not. We believe this episode will be massive help for anyone with a not-so-healthy relationship with food!
In this episode, we discuss with Ballerina Bites the meals she created during lockdown when training is limited to online classes. We provide nutritional insights into the meals, how to twist her meals into non-plantbased versions, but we also discuss training intensities, meals plans, calorie counting, the controversy around coconut oil and soy products, some of the myths surrounding carbohydrates ..... and so much all. A great combination of recipe creator and sports nutritionist!
