In a world where so many things are vying for our attention, as believers, we need to make sure we are not dependent on things, but on God. Don't let thorny soil choke out your faith.

We are called to show forgiveness to those who wrong us because God has forgiven us for our debt to him. Forgiven people, forgive people.

The parable Jesus told of the sowing of different seeds continues as we examine the shallow soil. All too often new believers with a fresh and exciting faith for God are thrust into leadership roles too early, and their love for God shrivels and dies. Confess, repent and seize the victory the Lord wants to give to you. Don't fight your own battles harder, instead trust God more.

What is the goal of marriage? To be happy? But happiness can be elusive and even shaken by numerous issues: financial, physical, emotional, relational, etc. The marriage bond is meant to be something more than vacations, raising children, and survival; within marriage there is a deeper calling. A marriage has the potential to give away life in the kingdom of God. Seek first his kingdom and your needs/wants for your marriage have a way of being fulfilled.

Society tells us that if we could have safety, security, and significance, we would feel fully alive, but does that really work?  God calls us to something greater— to live scattered. There is true joy and purpose in the giving away of things, instead of in the amassing. God has called us to scatter; to scatter our gifts, our resources, and our time.  It is only in those actions that we will find what we are looking for.
