Before we dive into our next director series, we wanted to get together and talk about the summers biggest movie: Denis Villeneuve's "Dune"

we all had a lot to say about this movie; Chris is a big fan of the director, but how does this fit into his filmography? Travis is a big fan of Dune (the book and the David Lynch film) but how does this film compare? Ian grapples with whether the stunning and elaborate visuals made possible by today's budgets and technologies are a worthy trade off for the richness in craft that can come from limitations.

In the seventeenth feature from the Coen Brothers, they once again dive into pure comedy and pure referential diorama storytelling. the movie worked for Chris, but Ian and Travis both found it too meandering in tone and without an essential premise to grab onto. while there are countless scenes that could be played and shown to be the work of creative geniuses, as a film it just doesn't add up.

As Ian, Travis and Chris close in on the end of the series, they are all surprised at this new take on a classic Coen character. While Audiences found the movie to be a little too dark and unlikable, the critics and our hosts agree that the Coens have crafted a heartbreaking and funny story about a tomcat in 1960's Greenwich Village. Oscar Isaac gives an incredible performance and Coen regular John Goodman shows up in a scene stealing segment. 

sorry for the slight technical audio problems with this episode, we got it mostly fixed but there's a little echo at parts
