  • Episode 2.06: The Journey – Part Three with Adam Call

If you listened to the first two parts of Adam Call’s remarkable tale of self-discovery, you know that his was truly a once in a lifetime journey. Armed with little more than a backpack, a camera, and a copy of The Alchemist, Adam set out into the world.

In this episode, Adam recounts the final part of his big adventure, including a startling chance encounter in Israel, a close call with Israeli security forces, walking over the border into Jordan, sharing tea with strangers in a cave in Petra, spending 24 hours on a desert rock, wandering with camels in Wadi Rum, and hearing language in the wind. He then heads into Egypt where he makes a romantic connection, spends 10 days in an eco-commune, and ultimately makes it to the pyramids, where he has his final epiphany.

In the end, Adam shares with us his surprisingly simple, but immensely powerful discovery about his journey and himself.

We think you’ll be astounded by the final part of Adam’s story. So let’s get on the road!

  • Episode 2.05: The Journey – Part Two with Adam Call

For every human seeking to discover their personal authenticity, there is a road to self-discovery. For some of us, the road is rocky and uneven; for others, it’s clean and smooth. But for each and every one of us, the road is one we must embark on alone. Adam Call took that journey—literally—by traveling around the world to find out who he really is.

In the previous episode of this story , we found out how Adam discovered that his life was not working and how he came to the conclusion that he had to hit the road to find himself. Armed with a passport and a copy of Paolo Coelho’s The Alchemist, Adam set forth on his own hero’s journey.

In this episode, we follow Adam as he continues his global trek for self discovery. Along the way, he lands in Morocco, Paris, Italy, Prague, Istanbul and Cappadocia. He ends up in Israel where a meditation turns into a life-changing experience.

You’re sure to be inspired by his story.

  • Episode 2.04: The Journey – Part One with Adam Call

Behind the inspiration of Authenticity Road was a fairly straightforward notion: That for each of us doing the work to find our personal authenticity, there is a road to discovery. For some the road is rocky and uneven; for others clean and smooth. But for all of us, the road is one we embark on alone.

When I first conceived of Authenticity Road, I assumed it was a metaphor. And then I met Adam Call. In his personal journey, he turned that metaphor on its head by literally traveling the world to find his authentic self.

Over the next three episodes, Adam will be our guide for the most fascinating and unique path to self discovery I’ve ever witnessed. It might seem odd to devote all this time to one story. But when you hear the truths Adam shares, the growth he experienced, and the insights he gained, you’ll understand the enormous impact his story has had on those who know him.

In this episode, Adam realizes that something needs to change. Carrying little more than a passport and a backpack, he sets out on his journey os self-discovery.

  • Episode 2.03: The Male Embrace with Louis Chabrier

Here’s a question just for the guys: What’s your physical and emotional connection to your male friends? For most of us, physical contact and emotional support between men can only happen in really specific situations. As a man, how often do you actually get the opportunity to express physical affection and emotional connection toward other men?

Healthy levels of physical contact and emotional support contribute to men's feelings of joy, connection and purpose in life. Unfortunately, in the United States social stigmas make it difficult for men to access healthy levels of male contact and support. This leads us to higher levels of loneliness, detachment, depression and poor health.

In this episode, we speak with leadership and life coach, Louis Chabrier. Louis is the creator of The Male Embrace, a practice designed to help men experience physical connection, emotional support and deep relaxation through a combination of emotional awareness work and physical holds.

Join us as we engage with Louis and learn how we can all experience the healing power of touch.

  • Episode 2.02: The Highly Sensitive Man with William Allen

Do you tend to process things more deeply than those around you? Do you get overloaded when there’s too much information coming in? Are you empathic, tending to process emotions very deeply? Are you aware of subtle sensory information around you that others overlook?  If this sounds like you, you might be a Highly Sensitive Person.  Highly sensitive people experience unique challenges—and those challenges are even greater in our society for men with high sensitivity.

On today’s show, we speak with author and coach, William Allen. In 2016, Bill began his blog, The Sensitive Man, about his experiences, as a highly sensitive man. The blog became the genesis of his book, Confessions of a Sensitive Man. Bill feels that highly sensitive men need to take their insights and intuition and make them public. He would like to shed more light on highly sensitive males and the much-needed role they need to take in our society.

We think you’ll enjoy our fascinating conversation on this unique topic.

  • Episode 2.01: Anxious Insecurity with Special Guest J Stamatelos

Are you enough? Do you feel as if—no matter how much you achieve—you’re still less than? Incomplete? Simply not enough? Believe it or not, you’re very much not the only one feeling that way. Many people, especially those under age 40, experience a chronic lack of self-worth. It doesn’t have to be this way.

In this week’s episode, Jordan and Ettore speak with J Stamatelos, a self-relationship coach and IFS practitioner about Enough, his book-in-progress which delves into the Anxious Insecurity epidemic. In this conversation, they touch on what Anxious Insecurity is, why it is, and most importantly, how we can heal these painful feelings.

Enough is a thoroughly researched exploration of two major questions: Why do so many Americans battle chronic insecurity, and what interventions actually work in resolving it? J makes heavy use of academic research and evidence-based modalities in his work. Real-life results—not theory of guesswork—play the central role. However, there is more work to be done to bring his book to the public. If you believe you have something to contribute to this conversation or can help bring this work to a larger audience, please get in touch. Or if you're suffering, connect with J to schedule a session.

  • Episode 1.25: Exploring Joy and Season One Finale

If you’ve been following the Authenticity Road podcast this season, you’ve no doubt heard Jordan and Ettore talking about the five primary emotions: anger, fear, joy, sadness, and shame. They've dedicated previous episodes to tackling them all. Except one: Joy.

In this week’s episode, the Season One finale, the guys spend some time unpacking their thoughts around joy, where they find it, and how they increase it in their lives.

After that, they turn their attention to the end of their first season as podcasters and engage in a bit of self-reflection. They take a quick victory lap about what they've accomplished, they talk about their highs and lows, and they consider what they might take on in Season Two.

But before they dive in, Jordan and Ettore want to extend enormous gratitude to everyone who has listened and for all the kind words and encouragement. Thank you!

  • Episode 1.24: Embarking on the Journey with Special Guest Ceasar F. Barajas

It often seems that the people who are most confident, those most firmly assured they have nothing to prove, are the ones with the greatest ability to be generous and humble. This week’s very special guest—our friend and brother Ceasar F. Barajas—is just that type of man.

Ceasar is a wellness mentor, an activist, a men’s work facilitator, a professional performer, and a U.S. Navy Veteran. And yet, despite his innumerable accomplishments, he gives freely of his time and his talents, and he offers his gifts with the greatest humility and love.

Ettore had the rare and enlightening opportunity to sit with Ceasar for an intimate discussion. Along the way, we learn about Ceasar’s history, his fascinating life stories, his journey to doing the work, how he guides others in the work, being real, facilitating difficult conversations, and so much more. Ceasar even drops the secret for where to get the best chocolate chip cookies.

  • Episode 1.23: The Five Phases of Empathy with Special Guest Michael Tennant

"Sometimes we connect with people for reasons we don’t entirely understand," Ettore says. "That’s how I feel about my dear friend and brother Michael Tennant. I recognized from our first interaction that he is a special human with whom I felt a unique and immediate connection."

Michael is a CEO, a diversity and mental health advocate, a recognized empathy expert, and the creative mind behind the Actually Curious conversation card game.

"In full disclosure, life has gotten in the way over the past year, so Michael and I have not had as many opportunities to connect as I would have liked. This recording session could be considered a kind of hybrid: It’s not only a podcast interview but also our first extended conversation. Consider this a rare window into the unfolding of a beautiful new friendship."

Along the way, the men talk about Michael’s journey, showing up as our most vulnerable selves, “being where your feet are,” leadership, the Five Phases of Empathy, and so much more.

We hope you’ll enjoy sharing this intimate chat.
