Joe's 24 Hour Challenge

It's all about the brain. And it's all about fight and flight and anxiety. However, no fight and flight isn't limited is in primeval moment, maybe we're fearful of a big bear in a forest. And sometimes our fight and flight gets turned on automatically, when it's not really serving as well. However, we can control and manage it. And we can do that by breathing. If you want to try with me, you can take a breath. And if you just follow my hand, actually, if you just take a nice, gentle inhalation, and my hand moves up. And then let that breath go. We'll do it again. Inhale 123, pause our breath and then let that breath go. And you'll notice between the inhalation and the exhalation Carol, that there's a space. And we can use that space. Just to create a pause and maybe just get intimate, friendly, or curious with that feeling of fear that you've got inside. So instead of reacting straightaway, just take the inhalation use that polls just to get curious and just say, “What's it about? Do I need to be scared of it?” . . . kind of get friendly with it. And maybe that fear can actually save us? And if we get kind of really cool with this method, we can actually start to use our fears as a currency for our success. And really make some changes. So our fears don't have to be a barrie, we can get more. As I really started to believe that our fears really are trying to speak to us and give us signals. Now, you can reduce that fear, step inside of it. And then we can boldly move forward without that fear and do things that we never even thought were possible. I love it. So brain science, get familiar with with your own fear and using that fear as your currency for success. It's really weird for me, and I think with practice, you know, we think we can stop using fear as as a barrier and a wall. Just realize that maybe maybe the fears we face for the reason it's there for a reason historically to protect us. So just use it to control our breathing. Breathing also helps reduce your cortisol and fat levels in the body, reduce your blood pressure. So that the body is attuned to feel relaxed to step into fear. And to see just what's happening. Oh, you know, it wasn't so bad. After all, I think I will give that presentation a try.

This challenge is you have to pick a challenge that it has been like a thorn in your side. So this is challenge is a difficult one, because so that's how we know is working right. And so let's just say this challenge has been something you have just been putting off for some time, I want you to now be on purpose to complete the task. I want you to be on purpose. So make sure that you can check it off the list and say done, right. And in this, I'm going to ask that you complete a mission statement. Who are you? Okay, are you and what does this particular thing that you're going to complete connects with who you are. And that's the key. So for example, if this something is, you know, cleaning up your room, right does just, you know, there's always one thing, I leave out a couple things I leave out, but I would do that in every part of my life, like I will always leave something unfinished. So I began to make sure I checked off everything, the room is perfectly beautiful by the time I leave it. Right. That one thing gave me clarity in my mission statement. Okay, so it's a state of mind, right? And so this 24 hour challenge is taking that one thing that you need to do that's connected to your mission statement and completing that task.

So that's your baseline, again, you have you may not be a professional speaker, but you have a message, you have something you want to share your platform is why this product or service is important. You're just not on a stage. So always think in terms of speaking, and then think about, am I making it about me or them? Is it about the problem I solve? Or is it about all the letters by my name? And those of you listening, be really honest with yourself because there's so much of a growth opportunity here. And this is where you tell people the problem you solve.

I'm a business coach. So what! So are 100 other people here. What's the problem you solve? And I don't mean that ugly, but you've got to be able to separate yourself. And if you don't know why you're good, and you're different, how are they supposed to know? And then it's got to be clear. Whether you are with a group of friends or in a community, you can do this. Because you are going to need feedback. Do your one minute introduction, I'm giving you 60 seconds, a little more than 30 seconds. And, it's just really name, who you work with problem you solve. When I introduce myself, I never say my company name, it's really irrelevant. I want people to know me. And when you have 30 or 60 seconds, that is precious real estate time. The challenge is to do your one minute and count the number of times you say I and try to talk about the problem you solve and the benefits to the receiver.

And those seven people, know seven plus more people. Have you done podcast interviews, radio interviews, digital TV interviews, something like that? Tell us what you're doing? Or have you created your own virtual or in-person event? Tell us what you're doing. And then of course, before you leave off, always tell people how they can reach you, what's your contact information? This can be anywhere from five to 15 minutes, jump on one of the platforms, Facebook Live, or Instagram Live. Unless you want to stream it into either one of those. But share it out. Amy's 24 Hour Challenge

For this challenge, what I you to do is seek out your local farmers and vote with your dollars. That means really getting to know them either through a farmers market or directly from their farm and find out if they support regenerative practices or are aiming in that direction. And what the challenges is to really learn how to  vet them and see if they really are operating regeneratively so that you would feel comfortable knowing that you could support them, you know, organic practices are important, that sort of thing is often hard for farmers to even afford. And so the matter of getting to know the farmer and saying, “Well, what do you do? What do you use on your farm? Or what do you maybe avoid, that I would be grateful for, things like that. And so what I've done is I've put together a guide that’s available at fearless farmers.org. You may have to go to the outskirts of town because farms are probably not right around the corner from you. When you get to see the farm in action, it is life changing. Use the guide, find the farms near you to support, get to know them and then place an order in the next 24 hours.

I was the File Room Clerk Supervisor with 15 work study students and 6,000 application files for student financial services. What a hoot and a hard half of a learning experience.  I learned I was a dang good leader with the ability to deflect the anger of others with humor as they saw me as the block between them and their money. I’ve been cussed out by the best—using real four-letter words—by students, parents, and yup even my dad, who was my original trainer in learning how to deflect with humor.   But that too, is another story. Little did I know then how much his training would serve me later, in corporate.  So, Thanks Dad!

I’ve spent 30 years showing those in need and wanting more from their lives how to develop professionally, personally and financially. Clearly, I had the background. I have decided, in perfect timing due to today’s season of world economic crisis, to move online to create a greater impact.
