Shannon welcomes Zombies, Run! game designer Adrian Hon to discuss the "gamification" of society. In his book, You’ve Been Played: How Corporations, Governments, and Schools Use Games To Control Us All, Hon reveals how points, badges, and leaderboards are creeping into every aspect of modern life. The book is a blistering takedown of the manner in which corporate, organizational, and governmental entities use games and gamification as tools for profit and coercion. Their goal is behavior modification, and we're often forced to play these "games" to manage our careers and navigate our personal lives and consumerism.

Cultural Controversy with Shannon Fisher delves deeply into the personal, political, and societal perspectives of the human experience. The show explores the worlds of writers, artists, celebrities, community leaders, and everyday Joes and Janes and offers listeners food for thought on topics we're often told to avoid in polite conversation.

Lowell turned to novels and screenwriting following an award-winning career as a Detroit journalist and the publication of his five true crime books, including the New York Times bestseller House of Secrets and his critically acclaimed debut Masquerade: A True Story of Seduction, Compulsion and Murder. An impeccable researcher when writing fiction as well as nonfiction, Cauffiel’s fact finding has taken him everywhere from the president’s private living quarters in the White House to the confines of dangerous urban dope dens.

His newest novel, BELOW THE LINE, is set in Hollywood.

On this episode, TJ Alexander returns to chat about their latest novel: CHEF'S CHOICE. It's a love story set amongst food and baking. And it's just as delicious as the book before. It's a great summer love story read.

Chana Porter joins Dan for a chat about her latest novel THE THICK AND THE LEAN. What would this world be like if some pleasures like Sex were completely accepted and encouraged, while Food was rationed and not for pleasure? And what would happen if not everyone agreed? This Speculative Fiction novel deliciously turns pleasures on its collective head.

Today’s guest on Killer Women Podcast is Jaime Lynn Hendricks. Jaime’s debut novel, Finding Tessa, was called "an anxiety fueled ride rife with unexpected left turns" by Publishers Weekly, and won a "Best of 2021" in the debut category from Suspense Magazine. It is also available in UK & Commonwealth under the title His Missing Wife.

It Could Be Anyone was described as "Riveting from its opening scene" by bestselling author Robyn Harding. NYT Bestselling author Mary Kubica said it "starts with a bang and never lets up." Publisher's Weekly says, "Hendricks maximizes the suspense of her Clue-style premise, smoothly manipulating and misdirecting readers." It is also available in UK & Commonwealth under the title Her Husband's Murder.

Her third, I Didn't Do It, is due out 5/23/23. A Kirkus STARRED review called it "A furious, riotous meta-romp...a dishy balm for every aspiring author who's envied those established figures at mystery conventions." Liv Constantine says, "Wow! What a twist!" Described by Samantha Bailey as "A meta mystery, a suspense, and a divine comedy all rolled into one brilliantly constructed novel." Samantha Downing says it's "A crackling, irresistible thriller, and it's so much fun!" Ashley Winstead adds, "It doesn't get any better than this...it's official: all hail the queen of the page turner."

Jaime spent over twenty years in the printing industry before becoming an author, and recently moved from NJ to FL with her husband and dog.
